An early Christmas gift from Whelan for their first goal and I never had any faith in us getting back in the game after that. Just no cutting edge in this team. No urgency in attack. The amount of times we played the ball side ways or backwards today was a big concern. I know we have some big players missing but the lack of cohesion is a worry plus the lack of goals, that's one goal in the last 3 games. Two points from a possible nine. We had two strikers on the bench, whatever you think of either, not starting with a striker was a poor decision from Bruce. I thought Jack played well, only real positive for me today. Let's hope Terry's back soon, push Jedi into midfield, get Jack playing off Keinan and a fit Andre Green in for Snodgrass who is so predictable and a winger with no pace!!!!! Cardiff win tonight and the top 2 inches away that little bit more. If this was a blip it could be forgiven but there's been far too many below par performances this season and yet again we have failed to beat a team above or around us. Bruce won't get sacked but he really needs to ask questions of himself and get this team playing more attacking, consistent and attractive football because I'll hazard a guess if we're still in the championship next season he'll no longer be employed by Aston Villa FC. Take a look at the teams now only just behind us. We're supposed to play some of these in the next couple of weeks. Bruce ain't got a clue, he refuses to play young lads bang on form, instead he plays loanees bang OUT of form! The Dinosaur won't change. Above is not my comment, a Forum comment, but 100% agree. I dread the thought of getting another couple of loanees in January, on a promise of getting lots of game time, and keeping our own players out, whether they perform or not. Bruce is on record this week as saying how giving a poor Sam Johnstone regular game time, enabled him to come through an show how genuinely good he really is. Well done with that - one that's worked. Can we please apply the same philosophy to the likes of Suliman and O Hare rather than continue to labour on with bang average players. A play-off place is not acceptable as Villa's target. There are managers who would have had us gunning for the heights with our squad. Read more: http://www.astonvilla.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=65387&start=154#ixzz51S8E4soA

Its awful to watch. He could bring anybody here in January but they will be a waste of time the way he sets them up to play, I also feel sorry for our youngsters having to watch the likes of Whelan etc keeping them out, Its not money Steve Bruce needs, its an education in how to put a team together that is good enough to be in the prem, because at the moment,we are miles away.

Didn't want Bruce when he was appointed but hoped he would prove me wrong we have the player's to get us out of this division but the management haven't got a clue mid table is the best we can achieve so disappointing

When teams defend deep and let us have the ball, we always struggle to create anything. This is where Kodjia has saved us in the past - he is probably the only player we have who's able to create goals by himself out of nothing. January cant come soon enough for me, we are in desperate need of another striker. Whether we buy one or bring them in on loan, I couldn't care less, we will fall away from the top 6 without one. Hogan doesnt fit into the system we play and Gabby even being named on the bench gets half the fan base in an apoplectic rage.

As previously mentioned another poor performance against a team near the top, what has happened to the 'Villa engine' ??? Our youth ??? .... so Bruce managed to get Gabby back in , our bench was so defensive and lacking in creativity surely we can do better than this, as it stands yes we might scrape the play offs but then we'd have games against teams in the upper half which we don't appear to be able to rise to. If we don't have a good Christmas we will be so far off even a good 2nd half to the season will see us fall short. Bruce and his coaching staff have a lot to do, I suggest they sit the entire squad down and watch a few tapes of Man City to see what commitment , passing and shooting can produce, the all out effort... we fall way short in every department and especially in the last 3rd of the pitch. If I was the good Dr I would be taking a long hard look at things, we cannot stay out of the premier for a 3rd season !!!!!!
