As Dr Tony said ' September is all about results '. Well so far we have lost 4 points at home against Brentford and 10men from Middlesbrough. It can only be a question of when we, once again, change the manager. I see the calls for a young, modern ( and probably foreign ) coach and totally agree that is what we need. What concerns me is the fact that SB has assembled a squad that a young, modern coach would probably have difficulty working with. Maybe someone still has John Gregory's telephone number !!

Can't beat 10 men at home and we are promotion contenders? I think not. Bruce has to go. not in 1 or 2 games. NOW! The only thing i want to read in tomorrows papers is not the usual "we were unlucky" rubbish from Bruce. I want to read how he has been given his marching orders for being absolutely useless as a manager of an unbelievably expensively assembled team that his tactics and management are not making the best of.

Conor hourihanes shot getting cleared off the line by Scott Hogan kind of summed up villa since Martin o'neil for me

Got to be more exciting looking for a new manager than putting up with this Dr Tony? or do you like the championship.

Agree DJ, need a young modern manager. Anybody older and more experienced unlikely to be both good and available. Also agree - a good foreign manager might not find it easy to get the best out of our current squad. The idea there is an endless supply of good, young foreign managers is unrealistic anyway. And finally, agree DJ, that another relatively unknown a la John Gregory may be the best chance of finding our diamond. Somebody who Villa fans welcome and want (like Lambert and Bruce) seems not to be the answer. May be we need someone Villa fans don't want! A "who the heck is he", "he's a nobody" type of manager! If our Board could do their homework, Gary Bowyer of Blackpool is one such fantastic manager, with Championship experience (stupidly sacked by Venkys at Bburn when they were 9th, and had no funds). Blackpool are a car crash club, that he has moulded and motivated to promotion, and he is tactically very astute with plans A, B, C & D. I would be delighted to hear the howls of derision if he was appointed, but dread another bad "known" appointment. As it is, maybe tonight's improved performance, if not result, will be enough to give SB a stay of execution. He needs both at Barnsley on Saturday.

There's something not quite right with Bruce. Time for change.

I have supported Bruce, until last night. 'Boro down to 10 after 2 minutes and what happened? Nothing! No formation change. We played across 2 banks of 4 for the rest of the half. It was obvious to any idiot, me included, that Thor was woeful on the left. We had to get behind and beyond them and the man to do it was on the bench. Where he stayed until half time. Our brains trust of a management team just watched ineptitude and left it alone. I cannot remember being so annoyed whilst watching from the tand. We wasted 43 minutes of 10 men. Then changed at half time and enjoyed that same advantage for just 18 minutes or so before Lansbury had his rush of blood. Yes the ref was awful and gave them everything to try and even things up, which he eventually did. But the main culprits for last night's woeful result were sat on the Villa bench. Peter Withe was watching from the boxes by the Holte, I just hope he may have brought some common sense to the after match thoughts.

Agreed Gordonsleftboot. The problem is that this tactical inaptitude and inability to react happens all the time. Have said this for some time that, in my opinion SB and Calderwood are 2 of the same. Similar background, same thinking. What SB needed was someone alongside who could offer alternatives. Sadly it is probably too late now and they will all be replaced within days.
