Well done to Bent. He played his part and looked frightening. Well what can I say? This team had belief and spirit. Wearing The top with pride. Weimann is immense and Benteke = Beast!!!!

Noooo!! We'll never get rid if Bencht now that he's injured. Always takes ages for him to recover!! ( if you can class his ability a recovery rather than a disability to the rest of the team. )

Great result though. It would be very selfish of Bencht to try to get all my attention. Wiemann and Benteke working well together!!!! The future gents...

It's like Christmas. Hammering some one away in a quarter final. Like the good ol' days when we'd roll up and really compete and then have a disco on the train home afterwards after putting someone on their arse, the club crest humming on your replica shirt. That's the Villa I know and love. Now, think about last season an how painful it was- doesn't that feel good now. Doesn't it? Bring on the scouse. Let's go and put them on their arse now as well.

A sub-head from a footy website: "Aston Villa side put on a second-half masterclass." It's been a long time since I've seen a heading like that connected to the Villa! Awesome stuff, and the last month or so have definitely culminated in us getting to this point. Onwards and upwards Villans! UTV!

Piper, really hope you are a female! 444, can't you leave Bent alone for a minute? Bloke's done his hamstring tonight playing for AVFC. Wouldn't surpise me if you're a blue WUMer - and your 'bencht' stupidity isn't catching on.

I will fight Blitz and King Villa in a 2 on 1 handicap match for Shay Givens honour... Grizz I love the chant beast! and onlymids what you have to consider is when somebody constantly has to berate and belittle someone thats when you know that person is incredibly jealous of what the other has... Im sorry V444 but it is true and the sooner you realise it the easier it will be ;)... I just cant wait to see the highlights having serious difficulty finding any... This is our best chance of winning a trophy in quite some time and without getting too optimistic but if we add some quality to our team in Jan we could be on to something... Being in a semi final will also help us secure some of our targets Spurs managed to sign someone in Jan a few seasons ago and the semi final position is one reason why he chose to sign for them... oh dear there I go dreaming again... ha

Stunned by the result. Had Villa down to lose 2-0. Now for the bread and butter - a point at Anfield will be an even better result. Keep it tight at the back lads. No getting ahead of ourselves!

Have to say I wasn't overly optimistic given Norwichs recent firm but oh my days what a performance! I'm sure Weimann and Bentekkers will get the headlines but I'm not sure i could pick a MOTM, real team effort. Special mentions to Given - yes made a couple of errors but made a world class save 2 mins before we scored the 2nd goal, Clark - composed, solid and led by example, Delph had a good game, Holman was great until he ran out of steam, Weimann - natural finisher, the next Darren Bent? And as for Benteke I don't really have to say anything do I? Absolute beast and certainly the most exciting young player for a few years. Great game, real cup tie and delighted to see the stats back up that we were fantastic and could have had 7/8 if not for their keeper. This is the Villa I know and love, thankyou Mr Lambert. Bradford in the semis anyone?

mattyh1986- seems like we played the 3-5-2 that Lambert has used in the last few matches, with Lowton and Lichaj pushing on and Herd/Clark/Baker in the back 3 with one of them stepping up into midfield when needed. Definitely a fluid formation that highlights Lambert's tactically flexible squad. Plus in Weimann/Benteke we have a fantastic pair of young strikers x

Lol onlyteam and CDX. I was just reeling you in and you bit. I'm sorry but you've got to see the light soon and realise that he's a mere mortal. Take the posters down and take him out of your dream team and re-evaluate your views. No Bannan either whom I've actually come to accept (only as a squad player mind) due to his graft from months of bitching about him. Won't change re: Bencht and I'll be a happy non moaning person when he's sold in Jan. We are the Villa and no-one is bigger than the club especially not DB9....

Sometimes you have to look at things in perspective. Lambert has had a brief to try and build team to compliment our academy products, for relatively little money. Last night we didn't have Dunne, Petrov, Gardner, Westwood, Bennett, Stevens, Vlaar. We played our second choice keeper and the most expensive player in our history went off injured after half an hour. The average age of our defenders is under 23. This at a ground of a team unbeaten in 10 who have recently beaten both Manure and the Arse without conceeding a goal. Now we have challenges ahead. We have only conceeded 1 goal in the last 4 league games, but only scored 2. However it is obvious to all that we are improving. So how about filling Villa Park and not having 13000 empty seats like we had on Saturday. I am sure there will suddenly be enough money around to attend a semi final and a trip to Wembley should we get there. I have already had a text this morning asking for help in getting tickets should we get there. My simple reply was 'get a half season ticket' and you might be able to get your own'!!! Oh and Mr Lambert has found a diamond in Benteke. That 7m has already turned into 30m. And if Andy Carrol was worth 35m then maybe it is nearer 50m. The young lad is one of the best centre forwards at VP in a long time.

If this was a Hollywood movie the big twist at the end would be that Villan444 is actually Darren Bent, and the part of him that hates himself for not being a more all rounded player comments on VitalVilla slagging himself off. I should watch Fight Club less than I do perhaps. Haha.

LOL zig, I know that DB9 is a nice guy etc. but I just don't rate him atall. He seems to be taking all the limelight in press conferences these days and I get the impression that the rest of the lads play better because he's not there. CDX, jealous?!?!?! LOL. Jealous of Benteke, Weimann, Gabby and most of the team, yes very much so but can people not comprehend that a lot of other people just don't rate Bent atall. I've already berated myself for giving the benched one too much limelight and now I'm doing it more!!!! The whole team and PL should be taking the limelight on a fantastic result and performance.

Great result but on a night when the strikers take the headlines lets not forget our young defence, who are turning in the sort of performances that will keep us improving.would suggest that Vlar will be hard pushed to get his place back.

Talkin' about Hollywood movies has anyone seen 'Mean Girls'? There is a character in that film who is always trying to get the word 'fetch' to become a catchpahrase but nobody is interested -- 'Fetch isn't going to happen'. Same with 444 and 'Bencht'. It ain't gonna happen 444. You don't sound like a Bluenose troll to me. I'm sure you're a genuine Lion. You do though sometimes come across as what the 'Fight Club' narrator described as a 'Big Tourist' on this site. OK, you don't like Bent. We all know. When was the last time you posted on here without mentioning him??? You say it's not personal but it often sounds like it is! UTV!!!

VWRA, I said myself that I should be doing less to promote Bent by keeping going on about him all the time and after this post I will try to mostly. It's quite clear that in the same way that I think he's not worthy of a Villa shirt for various reasons, some of you guys all rate him very highly, again for various reasons. I've tried to explain to people why this is but I'm not very persuasive and you can't change people's views by typing a few words so I concede. What's kept me going on was the negative effect that he's had on the team and PL in particular. The man doesn't rate him and gets asked why an hundred times every press conference. Bencht is taking way too much of the limelight, maybe not from his own personal choice but no-one is bigger than the team and now that things seem to be going well without the benched one, hopefully the press and some supporters will stop asking why he's not playing and/or claiming that we would've won the game or scored 10 goals if he'd played. In Paul Lambert we trust..... P.S. can't remember Fight Club but if you didn't rate him you'd think that Bencht was a good name for him ;-D
