very unfortunate...and fortunate. luckily persie's effort did not go in.

Sir Alex's Friend....Lol
Pride of Lions
We scored our second goal too early. If we'd gone 2-0 up after 70 minutes, we would of probably held on...
Pride of Lions
Disappointing in the end, but a great effort by us today. We deserved a draw and had 'em worried..I'm proud of 'em today.
MASON_PARKER
At least 3 utterly woeful decisions that changed the game. Disgraceful performance, especially with the treatment he allowed on Weimann as well. It's happens so often and it's so predictable, but the authorities never do anything.

Proud to be a Villa fan, If the youth learn this season, next season will be the start of something special. Great job, shame we lost, the ref was a toss-er! The foul on Scholes was not a foul, let alone Manutd time wasting was okay? Ohdam either way unlucky weimanns header didn't go in. He played great, do we need Bent? His money cost could buy what we need to progress.
Blitz
we were fantastic... a draw would have been fair but playing man united is never fair. How nobody has decked fergie I have no idea. How he jumps up and down when they score just makes my blood boil. We got NOTHING from the ref... NOTHING. The lads played well, everyone gave everything. Tired legs by 70 mins so it was written in the stars that they'd equalise and then go ahead... Well done lads, well done.

i thought benteke was unplayable. what a beast! he held off basically anyone that came near him. i was happy weimann scored. before benteke came in, he was our best striker from the start of the season

On lucky great effort, shame we couldn't get a point,if we can just stay up this season we will be a good team next season

Great performance from the lads !! Play like that against City and Arsenal and we will get some kind of result !!
marshyboy87
New team, new manager, same result against Manure. Did well but their sub won them the game and our subs helped them.
Villan444
Going into this game and comparing the two starting line ups I was slightly worried we were in for a hammering. But our young lads performed admirably against utd and the ref, I'm brimming with pride. We were solid and restricted them to few clear chances while playing some great football ourselves. Disappointing we couldn't see it out but at the end of the day their side cost 10x the amount ours did. Hope the boys take confidence into the next game and continue to grow and get better.

Gutted but proud. Never any shame in losing to a team belonging to the greatest manager of all time - and yes I'm just as hardcore a Villa fan as any of you. Sir Alex has always given Villa credit, he has never said a bad word against our teams, fans and club.

The defence looks the foundation for us to move forward, with 110% effort, and a continued high level of organisation and commitment we will start to move upwards. Thought Weimannn should have stayed on, he was on fire. Wish it could have been his hat-trick, but well done Villa. Would have kept Bannan on too. Anyway, keep it up and we will get something in the next two games.

All you can ask is they play to their maximum and I think they did that today. Well done lads. They all played well, but I thought Ireland was fantastic again today.
SchoolBoyError
I would have said the possession was at the most 55% to them, and that's generous. Very good today, was impressed with Benteke, Weimann, Gabby, Ireland, Vlaar... everyone actually. Felt that the ref in fact won them the game, like they always do anyway, and also feel we deserved non-less than all three points. Also sat lower right end of Holte with dad and 2 United fans were sat behind us mocking the villa and ended up getting kicked out also very nearly punched. And last of all, very disrespectful the away fans today. Especially not clapping or anything for Stan. Very appalled. But in the end, great match and enjoyed the display despite losing. Well done today, young villans.
Avfc94 we do
Tired from United today after midweek. Struggled to get out of 2nd gear but enough. Today was an opportunity to pump up that goal difference but we blew it.
Crumpsall
Note to Randy - DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT SELLING BENETEKE!! Great performance, terrible marking for their 3rd goal but the LEAST we deserved was a draw. We took it to them and had a real go and that's all I ask of the players. If they do that week in week out we will climb the ladder soon enough. Very very unlucky lads, well played. UTV

Benteke was awesome. Always horibble to lose to that shower. Apart from RVP, can't remember a manue side with so little quality since the 80s. The player with most successful passes to a white shirt must have been Barry Bannan!
onlyteaminthemids
Going to have to buy some sunglasses - the future is looking bright. How much do you think we can get for Bent & Zob? - 20M? - i'll take that and get 3 tekkers
Lost_In_Ca
Fantastic display from the Villa for 3/4 of the game. Played some lovely stuff. But, it was obvious we would lose after they got one back. Needed a wise head on the park today. Gives me hope we may stay in the PL, but a sign of how low expectations are - we are happy although we threw away a 2-0 lead. But, a couple of good (experienced) buys in January could actually see us do something.

Bull ***** stats!

I seem to recall us putting in a smilar performance against Man Utd under Houllier. It's important we use this as a springboard unlike then. Weimann justified his place, Benteke looks like the true replacement to Drogba that Chelsea should have gone for over Lukaku, it was pleasing to see Gabby trying to run at players, Ireland picked up some good spaces on the counter, Stevens for his full league debut didn't look out of place for most of it. Lots of positives, just beaten by a high class striker.
Francobaresi13
On last nights performance it's hard to believe that that was the first time they played together as a starting eleven. Put into the mix the average age was 23 and over a third were academy graduates. The most pleasing was the football played from back to front, passing the ball out of defence and through midfield is what all football purists want to see. Still going to be a long season, I predicted last week 4 points fron the three games which included Utd, we came so close to registering at least a point yesterday, I am going to stick with that prediction. Last night was a vision for the future, our second was the type of football associated with Barcalona. UTV.

Was that Fear checking his watch behind Fergie on Sky in the game??
Villan444
yes 444, good looking beast aren't I mate?! I kept telling him my watch was nicer than his! I did intend to keep my mouth shut but he kept on and on about time wasting and it wasn't true! LOL The one time the ball boy hadn't even got the ball back to Guzan and Fergie was tapping his watch!
The Fear
Lol. Quality mate. Deserves a spot on the soccerAM off the ball section. Made me chuckle anyway.
