Very good win against a bang in-form Fulham side. That was their first defeat in 5 games.

Maybe some of the senior 1st team squad should spend a few weeks in the reserves and promote a few more of the reserves along with Gardner to the 1st team !!!!

every body jumping up and down saying put 'em in the first team blah blah blah needs to remember the last few times anything similar has been done under previous management, trips to russia and manchester, both ended in disaster and both resulted in people accusing the then management of capitulating in each case. Reserve and youth football is a million miles away from first team action. The gap is so large that if I remember correctly Man Citeh don't even bother with a reserve team any more.

AVB we do not promote the best quickly enough. The mass promotion for vital games I agree was madness, but Gardner should be a first pick. There is no way that the likes of Baker, Herd, Lichaj when fit also don't deserve more chances when youiconsider the form and half-hearted efforts of our central defensive stalwarts. It is nowt to do with age. There ar countless examples of Jones, Oxley Chamberlain, Barry, Becham, Scholes, Little, McDonald, Cowans who can become regulars as teenagers. More of the current crop deserve an earlier chance to shine.

Have to agree with AVB, love how much I hear people saying how Baker and Lichaj should play and how Delfouneseo should have been given a chance. This is the same Lichaj that couldn't get near the Leeds team, the Nathan Baker who was so bad against Wolves last season he had to be brought off after 20 minutes and the Fonz who was rubbish on loan at Burnley and now struggling to play for Leicester - get a grip!!!

i agree with gardner possibly being given a start as his performances from the bench have been great, but i think we get a bit carried away with our youth players. Bakers started 2 games for us last season and never made the second half at wigan and home to wolves as he was having a mare

stenny, for me age is irrelevant, if you're good enough you're old enough and quite frankly in todays game if you haven't made it by 21/22 you probably aren't going to. It just makes me chuckle that we build our youngsters up to be megastars but very few even turn out to be even average at prem level. I agree with giving 'em a go in small numbers at a time, Herd has been great, Albie is okay, Clark is an awesome centre half but lost in midfield, Lichaj looks decent and I haven't seen enough of Baker to comment. Gardner looks decent but the hype isn't justified on what I've seen of him so far. It's easy to quote young players who've come good Wilshere and Rooney are obvious additions to your list, but they are the exceptions to rule, almost all of our recent big hopes have gone on to championship level careers and the current crop will be no different.

There is a difference between promoting one or two to the first team than fielding a complete team of reserves and youths ala moscow and man city! Youngsters need to come into the first team and be surrounded by established and more experienced players to guide them and learn from them ie when Gabby was promoted. Gardner is one of the most highly rated players to come through for years and by his own brothers admission is better than Craig. So if Craig can play in the premier league, Gary has a very good chance of progressing and playing at premier league level in the future. However i agree the hype is a little too much, hes obv not going to be in the same bracket as Rooney.
