Good game end to end 12 against 10 the ref was an absolute Joke VDV was superb and both our Goals especially the 2nd were beautifully worked!! Defoes " elbow" was never intentional i can see a yellow but red was just ridiculous!! their was just absolutely no intention at all hey ho hopefully itl be overturned and we will keep on marching...you guys ...need a decent striker!!! All the best.

LMFAO, you are not on the same par as the mighty yids!!!
E17YID
1 Spurs - never a red card, wasn't even a yellow in my mind. VDV seriously lets himself down falling over every 30 seconds and then motioning for a booking. Can't stand players like that because there's no reason for it, especially when you have that talent. But the ref was hardly on our side with what you lot got away with!

E17, not on parity with scoreline because of our woeful finishing, but I'd be worried if you think you can play many games that badly and give another team that many chances before you get hammered.
mike_field
Vdv is a CHEAT!
Villa b
only important stat reads 1 -2...... the rest in history now! relegation battle by mid january, sell to buy, it can only get bettter! Not sure our "gloves and snood" boys are up for a relegation battle! Its going to be a loooooong season!

Gomes is a CHEAT!

At least we're done with VDV for this season,Spurs are a terrific team at the moment. If I was a kid watching football for the first time I'd be supporting Spurs.Bring on January, something major has to happen if things stay the same we're gonna go down.Lichaj had a good game.
Pking
The ref was obviously not happy refing on a cold eve and had the right hump....card happy idiot really spoilt a good game not that it was dull albrighton shows alot of promise Downing was decent just no penetration through the middle for you Agbonlahor is poor ( imo ) Ireland obviously has spat his dummy out and rightly dropped until he can find it again....im just glad we hung on hairy last 15 mins especially with 10 men!! we were always gonna sit back in the 2nd half and that showed proud of the lads though 3 points away from home!!
only 1 spurs
mike-field - over 60 mins with 10 men is clearly mitigating circumstances in my mind. Although you had a lot of shots they were mostly speculative from distance or just hopeful crosses which weren't really threatening. Obviously with Young behind the striker or a full 90 mins out of Heskey you'd have definitely pushed a lot harder. I do think your VDV b1tch slap is sour grapes though, can't think of a footballing reason why you would dislike him ;) Good luck for the rest of the season though, Houlier had his hands tied by the turmoil MON left you in. We'll know alot more about his Villa after this transfer window (I personally think he'll turn out fine if backed by the owner)

vdv = villa destroyer
11ledleykings
goin down with the dingles. . . down with the dingles!!
One Ian Taylor
Phartman no reason at all other than his behaviour. Same thing bugs me with Young when he decides he wants to play dead lol Theatrics annoy me. ps plenty of close chances but Gomes was getting everything, replay the game with the same things happening and they'd struggle to miss the chances we had a second time around.
mike_field
I think everyone in this counrty is sick of the theatrics I'm just surprised VDV is the source of you're frustration because he's not even close to being that sort of player and there weren't really any contentious incidents today. There were much more obvious examples like Gomes broken finger nail (or Collins allergic reaction to Defoe ;)
Phartman87
Houllier looks like he is either supremely confident about matters here at Villa Park (I'll sort it in the January transfer window) or he's a frightened rabbit caught in the headlights (these lot are clueless and there's little I can do about it). Hope to God it's the former. 11 v 10 for most of the game and just like against Man Ure last year we were unable to take any kind of advantage. Tactically inept tonight.
JimmyG
Turning point was the same as at WHL earlier in the season. The loss of Emile Heskey. He was causing untold problems and without him we lacked a 'focal point'. This is where Carew should have come on, but there lies major problems/ Carew, Dunne, Ireland and Beye. Obviously not going to play again. Thought Emile should have had a pen, and I have to strongly disagree with Spurs fans I thought the ref made it 11 each. Great to see Delph back, and I thought young eric did very well against Bale. Defoe's sending off worked against us IMO. With all our possession we struggled to break them down with everyone behind the ball. With Defoe on Spurs wouldn't have played that way. The sad thing is that 12 months ago there was nothing to choose between the two teams. Sadly there is now.

Last 12 games: 2 fortunate wins. 6 losses. Sliding..............
JimmyG
Lack of penetration up front, defensive lapses, and the ball not running for us equals another poor result. But performances do matter. There is a lot beginning to go in the right direction. It will come. I remain confident. Keep with it everyone and see beyond the result. We will turn this round. MON had lost it and three 6th placed finishres was decent, but we were in reverse gear. We are heading in that same direction at the moment, but I'm convinced it's two steps back to go three steps forward. The future is Gerard, the future is Randy Lerner, the future will be fine if we stick with it. Three tough away games coming up, but they are not done deals. Mid-table with loads of youth blooded will be a great foundation. A couple of holes plugged and the run of the ball and we will quickly move forward again. Up the Villa.
stennyvilla
Van der Vart is undoubtedly a good player, but as Mike says throws himself to the floor at every opportunity and mimes a card, what happened to that being an instant booking? He also baited the crowd , will be happy to see him get a hammering.
Trekker
That was embarrassing. Again. Man City away and Chelsea away next where frankly we'll get nothing, and end up right in amongst it at the bottom. Get rid of GH NOW before he squanders our cash the xfer window.
SchoolBoyError
im all for positivity but we're running out of time. We didnt play that bad. Need about 4 players in jan
medzy
Not sure how anyone can argue that the ref was on our side. Granted it was touch and go on the pen call but we had a perfectly legit goal disallowed, a pathetic red card decision (vdv theatrical!? What about Colins!), and I lost track of the number for corner and free kick decisions that were given the wrong way in Villa's favour. Had we lost u could call it sour grapes but we won and still think the ref was a joke. Some very strange comments above about us not getting away with giving a team so many chances again. Are u forgetting we were down to 10 for 60 odd minutes? We were deserved winners and even with 10 men proved too good for u.
MJBSpur
not the same villa anymore.....spurs are getting better and better but you guys are in for it if no changes are rung

It was men against boys, simple as that.... roll on Jan roll on
AdzVilla
stennyvilla, I couldnt agree more, lets get behind those boys before we completely fall apart. UTV
parkez17
we had no chance once we went down to 10 men. It was us who went down to 10 men wasn't it?
The Fear
A CB, a CM who is prepared to get into the box and a CF are needed at the very least. The disappointing thing is I can't see tomorrow's game being any different, except substitute the name Van der Vaart for Tevez...and that's the real difference between being in the top 5 and just participating in the Prem. Can anyone see a time in the future where a genuine World Class player is coming to B6??? I hate to say it, but I can't.
Francobaresi13
The quality of VDV and some comical defending undid us at the back and the lack of a decent striker stopped us doing anything useful at the other end.
Villan Of The North
I know that most say that the sending off was harsh and to an extent I agree but the simple fact is, regardless of injury caused or otherwise, if a player leads with their arm/elbow, it's a straight red. Maybe the rule is wrong and maybe many refs would not have played it that way but the ref was only doing what the rulebook states he must do.
Villan Of The North
VOTN, nothing wrong with the rule whatsoever. Was a very dangerous challenge. Defoe isn't known for them but he was rightly punished. Pi55e5 me off seeing Lawro on MOTD (sucking up to Wingnut Lineker)saying it was harsh. I know that you've got to jump with your arms but his elbow was level with his own head and his elbow was also much closer to the ball than his head. If Collins had not met the ball (and the elbow) it would have been handball!!! Also the Kaboul goal was rightly disallowed, camera footage on MOTD again was very biased towards Spuz (as was the Ref) and didn't show any proof either way.
Villan444
The main issue with our team is man marking or lack off. We leave players free all the time to take shots. For example for there second goal yesterday, how when we had one more man was Van Der Vart left free? and not only him there was another players coming behind him completely free. WE HAD ONE EXTRA MAN AND THEY HAD TWO PLAYERS ATTACKING THAT WERE UNMARKED. GRR it makes me so mad! lol Teams don't give us this amount of room and space. I've not understood Villa managers for a long time, Man Mark and play simple passing!!!!!! and you will win games.
revua
I also can't see why anyone would have any complaints about Defoe being sent off, does not really matter if it was intentional or not. it was dangerous. If one of our players did the same I would expect the same punishment. If you take the chance of going for the ball having your elbow in the air then you take that chance of been sent off if you hit someone face. There should be no complaints.
revua
MJBSpur so in the 1st few minutes when HOGG quite CLEARLY got the ball, and barely touched the player (I can't remember who) you got a freekick in a dangerous area, we should of had a pen, and you got many freekicks given the wrong way, I agree on Defoe shouldn't of gotten a red but the ref wasn't bias to anyone, he was just an awful ref and it evened itself out
