I have to say they probably just about deserved it. After Heskey went (what am I saying?!) we went to pot pretty much. I am blaming Carew though, he just looks like he can't be bothered...poor passing, gives away way too many fouls. But we'll bounce back. Not many teams will get anything here. VDV was the difference between the teams. End of.

Why was an unfit Carew our only striking option on the bench today? There's a guy called Nathan Delfouneso who happens to be the most talented young English striker, and I was under the impression that he was contracted to us. Perhaps I'm wrong about this - but if I am, I won't be for long. Delfouneso to do a Cahill - only to the power of 10?

Albarnista: sad to see our striking options isn't it. I do not rate Nathan as highly as you do - yet - but we desperately need more firepower! Should've bought Kenwyne Jones guys.

AvodomFC jesus fella you do talk some right old turd! LOL...we are far, far, more a technical side than villa.....i will grant you that villa have alot of industry and pressed us for mush of the match, but the result is the right one. the better, more creative side won. many will argue VdV was the difference. and i wouldnt argue really....but the point is we have a VdV and you dont.

It's not just VDV lillywhites. Nobody from the Villa team would get into our squad with the exception of Young and Dunne (as a back up centre half). You lost to a better team, I'm sorry but it's the truth. I hate Villa but admit you bossed the first 25 minutes, but after that I'd give us the edge. Now remind us because we know it's coming... HAVE VILLA WON THE EUROPEAN CUP!?!?!?!

I thought it was a terrific game of football. Pity we lost and some cant believe what we're saying but Heskey looked awesome and i am quite sure we'd have had a goal or two if he was still on the pitch. Fair play to Spurs - they have some good players in their team and as the home side i thought they pressured the ball and more than made a great game out of it. Still believe the game would have been fair at a score draw tho

The difference between both sides was Heskey ;) Once he went off it was time for an average midfielder and a bit of luck.

Thanks for backing my sentiments gents. It was interesting to see the attendance tonight, I know we've been having our own issues (sorry I live in California and can't help out), but 35,000 for a rivalry game seems a bit low for a London club? That's not a dig, I'm not even quite certain how much White Hart Lane can hold, but surely 45? Maybe a spud can educate me.

Hi all. I only saw the bits on MOTD and checking the stats here it does seem like a deserved result...just. L_A_Villan - WHL holds 36310 so only 500 empty seats. WHL is always packed and our average (2008/09) higher than the total that came yesterday. Maybe you should look at your own club and do a little research before posting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_attendances_of_European_football_clubs

some good signs with the way we played, bit more clinical in front of goal (Mr John Carew!?) and who knows. Certainly have the feeling we are on the up though.

la villan, the max capacity of the Lane is 36,300, rounding the seats up. Considering that 35000 showed up for a rivalry game, I'm sure you'll admit that's pretty damn faithful.

Maybe there's something in the background about Delfouneso that we don't know about Albarnista? Perhaps both Messrs Houllier and O'Neill could see some attitude or disruptive traits in the young man - although the previous manager did give him a few chances to prove himself.

Watching the highlights of the game, they showed 2 highlights from Villa (includes the goal) and showed chance after chance by Spurs, VDV couldve had a hat trick if it wasnt for a brilliant tackle by Petrov. as for the Spurs goals, it is called a cross, a hoof is from the Villa goal when your Rb bombed it long for Heskey to chase and pressure Bassong forcing him to a mistake, your really your goal came from a hoof. I still dont understand, if you passed it better wouldnt that equate to more shots or more possession???

Not really, shows how one eyed you are Rob basing a game on a few highlights. A team can pass the ball and play well without having good chances just look at arsenal...Spurs had a few good chances and so did we, they passed it around good aswell doesnt mean we didnt...Bitter person.

Front page aggro, a throw back to Vital Villa in the seventies? Spurs shaded it, they had Van der Vaart, we didn't, that was the difference. On the day it could be argued that we deserved a point, sadly we didn't get one, but our time will come on Boxing Day. Merry Christmas Tottenham!
