coker touched the ball 10 times in the first half , his first touch after 5 minutes , won one tackle gave away 4 free kicks , had a couple of head down charge forwards , I was actually sad enough or bored enough to count them ! if him and Stan or him and Sidwell are our central pair we'll be looking at bottom half

All i can say is, the mule needs to be put down.

We played fairly well tonight! Most of the good stuff coming through ashley young. Downing had a shocker but nrc had a good game imo. The fonz didnt have much time to make an impact. We played some great stuff at times but the final ball/cross was poor. Oh and heskey was playing!

Also, after watching the game, i've decided squad-wise were doing pretty well. If we kept L.Young at RB, then i'm fine with Beye as back up. That leaves us with 4 centre backs who we've played first team. Get Albrighton into the first team, then we've got him, Young, Petrov, Downing, Reo-Coker, then hopefully Ireland as part of the Milner deal, that sounds fine also. Then Gabby, Carew and Delfouneso upfront...i'd quite like Heskey to go to Blackburn or to whoever want him. Then we've got like 20m to spend. That leaves a player like Huntelaar well in price-range. I'm pretty happy with our situation, no worrys here.

Unless Mart invests a bob or two on at least one proven premier league quality striker, 0-0 draws at Brummagem B6 are going to be fairly common this season. We are completely impotent up front, and once again, we failed to trouble the visiting keeper into anything other than routine saves, as was the case all too often last season. Thought Marc Albrighton was our star of the show, while I was also impressed with Nigel Reo-Coker. Luke Young and Habib Beye also had decent games. I was left with the distinct impression that maybe we are trying to offload the wrong players, in this desire to raise some cash to boost our transfer kitty.

Heskey is a disgrace and should be ashamed to be mascarading as a professional footballer. His first touch is *****e and he hasn't got a clue what he's doing. RE: Nige, we saw the worst and best of him as he did get involved and for the first 10 mins did what he should by winning and then giving the ball to a team-mate short. After 30 mins or so he got ahead of himself and the delusions of grandeur started to reappear. He tried to dribble the ball everywhere and I saw him moaning with his face screwed up and shaking for no reason as if he was a tactical genius. In fairness to him, he did make 1 very good pass, I think to Ash, but it was a poor opposition. DJ Stew still looks like a fat ******** and not sure what good his pre-season has done him atall. Not good enough for The Villa. All hail Albrighton though, a star in the making!!

NRC was good tonight, Albrighton excellent. I do feel sorry for Downing though, he's been crap since he's come here but I'm sure there's a good player in there. He made one fantastic pass through to Ash, who was given offside, incorrectly IMO. It's a pity his free kick didn't go in off the bar. As an aside the officials were poor. Ref ok at best but the lino's were terrible. So offside happy with the flag. It irritates the **** out of me that they cannot manage to make a decision based on the position of a player when the ball was played. Instead they make the decision based on what they think has happened. IN the instance above as Ash is quick he was given offside when he wasn't. I hate 'em

And I do wish someone would buy Heskey, truly awful

Agreed with Heskers... can't we stash him in the spare room where all the old balls, corner flags and musty gym-mats are kept, and he can stay in there and guard the lot? In fact, failing that lets use him as on-site security! I'm always scared when he plays anyway! :) Re-Coker had a very good game, and Albrighton is looking day by day premier league quality. We badly need a quality proven striker now
