Well a mighty fine two legged affair. Chelsea overall were worthy winners and the better team did win, but boy did we make them work for it. Fantastically committed performance over both games from the Villa lads. They may not have been as technically gifted as the opposition but they more than levelled the playing field with their effort and determination.

Just a shame we couldn't nick that elusive second goal tonight because you did seriously wonder if Chelsea stood a chance of scoring given their possession and chances that were either comfortably saved or went wide.

A thoroughly enjoyable game though and this will have done the lads no harm whatsoever, there is some good talent amongst our ranks and I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 6 of them become regular names in the reserves in the coming years.

Looking forward to seeing some of the youngsters in future years playing for the Villa .

Good game fellas. Villa played with superb determination and work rate- Took your chance perfectly well too, unlike the Chelsea team that created bucket loads but couldn't find the finish that was required. Great game, thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully, a few of the lads from either team will make it through to the big stage.
