Just the sort of game i expected. this is probably one of the worst performances that we have given at home this season and yet we where miles better than you without lennon. weather we went long or passed it on the ground, we did both better than you. to be honest this was like the game at Villa park. we where technically much better than you and as soon as you realized that, you started defending for a point.

and for anyone sensible. Awful performance and we still got a draw. Said this week we'd cancel each other out, we did. Both teams aren't good enough for the champions league on that showing, still, away from home and a club above, a draw isn't a disaster. Everything else was pathetic. Ref needs glasses - it was a penalty for spurs, but dawson was riding JC like a pony the entire game. Not to mention half the corners awarded were off spurs players. Our midfield were just absent today. Petrov never got past our half way line and never played a pass forward. Was awful. Milner was really deep but put in a big stint. Downing just looks worse every game. The bloke can't cross or beat a player! Ash tried but pretty much was nullified by the 3 players that marked him every time he received the ball. Feel sorry for gabby and JC and Heskey. Gabby never really received a pass. JC had a billion pointless lobbed long balls thrown at him. And heskey got injured trying to actually get a touch on the ball in our own half... There was only one team playing soccer today and it wasn't us. Getting tired of our defense saving us because we play long ball cr*p.

Im glad to see a Tottenham fan come on and behave with their usual grace and dignity.If their so brilliant they should be able to hammer a team that comes and plays for a point.A well earned and well deserved point.Probably the worst we have played this season and they still couldnt beat us.Some very tough fixtures out of the way and we are still in there.Dunne was wonderful tonight.

There are two main parts to football, Attacking and Defending. Their attack was better then ours BUT our Defending was better than their attack. Our defending was outstanding, but we really need to improve going forward. We spent to much time trying to lump it up and hope that the strikers hung onto it, the few moments we just played simple short passes were our best spells, we just need to do that more often.

I am not saying we are a brilliant team but you guys are a poor side and for the arrogance your fans displayed before the game, you certainly didn't do the talking on the pitch.

You lot were horrible ive seen wolves play football with more style this season...tbh im shocked that MON came to what could have been an open free flowing affair with such negativity??? I will say dunne and co were v.good and fair play to ya backline anf ofcourse Freidel!! but i am gobsmacked at how poor everybody else was Milner and Young who i rate v.highly Gabby is just v.poor never been and never will be a quality striker he has the pace but sadly has square feet. so a point apiece i feel we been mugged.

Pking - To lose to the sides around you is catestrophic but with how conjested it is and with Liverpools experience and Citys squad (and games in hand) any time you don't pick up 3 points to against 4th place downwards is probably an opportunity lost. Although tbh on what I've seen in the last 2 months spurs aren't quite clinical enough for the top 4 but considering where we were last year I'd happily settle for Eruropa at the start of the year

Gee Yid... When last did spurs beat a top 4 side? And both sides are arrogant. But i can bet the first post on the spurs site was not by a Villan - unlike you on ours. And spurs outplayed us - take that as a positive. The fact we stole a point as a negative for you. For us we scored a point which is a positive. The fact that we completely dominate liverpool and united with quick attacking play and then switch to hoof ball against you is a negative for us.

Poor Villa performance, but we have a top class defence. I wish Richard Dunne was English. Centre half and captain no problem! Ironically Spurs played a LOT more long balls than we did (as mentioned by the commentators) but Crouch was a constant menace with them, and the 'long ball' always looked Spurs best option of breaking us down. Neither Heskey or Carew caused many problems in the same way, although Carew did have two or three sights of goal but finished poorly.Who is the better team this season will only be confirmed after 38 games, not with still a third of the season remaining. Having a great defence is a MAJOR part of being a good team

absolutely messi im not having a pop at these guys at all the defending was excellent i was just shocked at MON tactics with palyers like Young + Milner 2 quality players i spose you could throw Downing into that equation maybe??? and i just witnessed long ball after long ball to the rubbish Gabby when the likes of milner and young could take a game to spurs?? v.strange

Definately agree only 1 spurs... Its a tactic we resort to when we are under pressure. Which not only puts us under more pressure since we are generally conceeding possession but also isn't effective since gabby doesn't make the same runs as defoe.

we've had the same yid_from_india, missed chances against Liverpool, Wolves, Everton etc, just we aren't arrogant about it when we don't win. its funny how people seem to think that going forward is the only part of the game. yes spurs were better than us today going forward but seriously did they really create 1 clear cut chance?? dont think so. to me it seemed that both teams were scared to lose the game and i dont see how anyone can say that spurs dominated the game, like i said they were the better attacking team today but they couldnt score. villa/spurs played twice 2points each simple as neither team is champs league quality yet both teams are striving for it. maybe one of us will sneak it. time to get off the high horse of being "technically" better than everyone and realise top teams actually win games they probably should not draw them against allegedly "poor" opposition. also remember we are the "poor" opposition that won at anfield and old trafford this year so i think MON knows what he's doing.

However, if there's one thing that's been proven, especially over the 2 legs, is that we are a class above you, regardless. This is now 2 games where you've been happy with a point at half time. Two similar teams cancellin each other out....ne'er thought they would score it was just if we could nick it IMO.... We didn't but we kept them at bay with ease.. I always think spurs are better than they are but really they are just an aaverage team.... They didn't dominate at all regardlessnif what they day you have to have chances to do that!!

Villa and Spurs have the same problem, without a 25 million striker to unlock good defences even when playing badly the top 4 is out of reach, the top 4 all have this, Drogba, Rooney, Torres even Van Persie would fetch that much now and Man City will soon buy one, don't have to actually spend 25 million initially, if a gem can be unearthed, but ultimately the player has to become a striker worth that amount before the top 4 can be reached

Congrats to Spurs: they seem to be the only team in the top seven who know how to handle Villa's game. That said, they still can't beat us! Spurs' game plan seems to revolve around long balls to Crouch and being first to the second balls this creates. That, and long-range shots. This is food and drink to Dunne and Collins. Villa, having by far the nicer run-in of the two clubs, came into the match not wanting to lose, plain and simple. If something could be nicked on the break, then great. A draw is a solid result. Mission accomplished we move on... As for Spurs, they remain a team of top eight credentials, a carbon copy of 'Arry's world beating Portsmouth side.

Ah some of the comments on here just make me laugh, to say you Should have won and that we just hung on is really not true. Yes you had more of the ball, Yes you had more shots. BUT did you have the quality to break us down? NO! Both our defences are strong at the moment us with 8 clean sheets in the last 10 and Spurs with 7 in 9 I Believe just another sign of how equal we are. To say that no villa player is as good as their spurs counterpart is just small minded and wrong, as it would be to say no spurs player would get into the villa team. Nether team is really worthy of a top 4 place at the moment. However remember you are only 1 point a head of us and we have a game in hand.

I've NEVER been on vitalspurs, the official spurs site, or any other website of any other club for that matter...... why do some seem to spend stupid amounts of energy and time invading other clubs' sites just to talk junk????

I find it amusing that people were mentioning it is just a striker we needed during January. We looked technically inept yesterday. Work Rate is all well and good, but every now and then we need that player with a bit of technical brilliance...our passing was poor for the most part and the long balls were too. Ironically when we managed to get the ball down and play we looked like we could create something. Defense was outstanding though, Spurs fans can say what they want about dominating, but the amount of really troubling chances they had was probably the same amount as us! If they are claiming that we didn't deserve a draw then they really don't know Football.

I really don't understand all these arguments, Villa were poor (answers as to why on a post card) but Spurs were still not good enough to beat us. I'd call it a bad day at the office for al concerned but I do know that MUTD don't worry how all their points come as long as they come and as long as most of their points come deservedly from consistent performances. At the end of the day, neither team was good enough.

On a side note, my personal opinion as to why were were so poor going forward is MON and his lack of tactical understanding.
In order to link up with and release a MF you need fullbacks who are comfortable on the ball going forward but that can still defend, in Cuellar we have a good CB playing at RB and he's not comfortable going forward, in Young we have, imo, one of the best RBs in the Prem playing at LB where he's just not comfortable going forward. This leads to a solid defensive unit with no link to mid field.
Then we have to look at MF, Petrov has been ineffectual for much of this season, he doesn't do much wrong but he doesn't do much at all other than sweep up loose balls and give them sideways, a true DM needs to be able to tackle and position himself to break up play and then make the best pass available when he gets the ball - I wonder if GB wants to come back to take on that role.
Finally, on to the forwards, Gabby is OK as a lone striker as he has ability and pace but no real footballing brain so he can't form an effective partnership with anyone. As for Carew, an absolute footballing star who is truly world class, completely unplayable when he can be bothered or perhaps I'm unkind, perhaps it's a Collymore situation and he really needs the help of a sports psychologist. Either way, he only turns it on once in every 10-15 games. We need to sell Gabby while he's still got a decent value or play him as a lone striker, either way we also need options and need to invest to get them. It would also be nice to see young Nathan getting a few 20 minute appearances at the end of games but I do appreciate that it's probably too early for him to become a senior striker.

Although i always like to see my team going for victory, have to admit it was good defending by you lot last night.. Spurs really, really should 've taken all 3 points, but didn't..coys!

The commentary by Joe Royale said exactly the same, he said on balance you were playing more long ball and he wasn't slating the tactics either, the long balls were gettting to players but don't pretend you are / or were yesterday playing pretty football.

Thanks for the balanace huddersfield yid, some who have come on make it sound like you thrashed us! We do have similar fans saying the same after some of our performances also, but at the end of the day although you defo edged it on chances, we still had some (to have won would have been great but would have been against the balance I agree) but defending is half the game and we are solid from the back, at times it is the finishing that makes all the difference for us, with a top striker there the play would be freer and the midfield in games like yesterday could play with more freedom and attacking intent.

Srtiker and creative midfielder needed urgently or we'll get stuck in a rut. Spurs were far more creative than us, scarily in fact. Thank god our defence is solid thats all i can say

Heatherfield I think we annoyed ourselves just as much or more than your defence frustrated us,Dunne was excellent by the way ande is looking like the purchase of the season,but every week we seem to fail to turn good possession and chances into goals,sometimes against supposedly much weaker teams than yourselves.We've really wasted some great opportunities to crack the CL 4,and its starting to look like its slipping away.I don't think anyone is seriously calling Villa poor,or inferior,they are not,just played poorly in an attacking sense yesterday,thankfully.Good luck for the rest of the season,particularily in the cup final.

We're yet to really get going this season! not had a decent run, and we're still there! once weve played man unied we have 12 games in 13 agaist teams we SHOULD be beating...Wigan, Blackburn, Burnley etc. minus Chelsea in that! but we've already beat them, surely the run we've been looking for is in that run of games, played 6 against the 'top 4' only chelsea n united left, and Man city, after that all winnable games! Chanting boring villa just upped the work rate of the villa players! if spuds fans had a brain then they would have got behind their own team rather than berate the villa. cos of that spuds were unable to unlock the prems best defense which of course will always annoy the spuds cos they can't beat us!

I agree AvdomFc I dont feel we've played well all season except the Bolton game, surely we're gonna start soon, (this is not a dig at the team I think the effort and disire they put in is second to none, but would like to see some goals and flair now)
