They can't be the right stats. We couldn't string two passes together in the second half. I thought in the second half we were poor. It got to the stage where we were just content to hoof away and wait for the next spurs attack. Lacked alot of composure. The ref was terrible too. Every decision was spurs way. Even the goal was dubious with a possible handball.

I would have taken a draw if you had offered it to me before the game.We Where not our usual selves especially in terms of passing partly due to your closing down. But i felt we could have won it in the end but i am not too disappointed with a draw. still players in the caliber of King,Woodgate and Modric to come into the side.but apart from the first 15-20 mins , i thought we where the better side.

Martin O'Niel got his tactics spot on first half by starving Lennon and Defoe of space which forced us to play from the middle...which we couldn't! However I was surprised just how negative he got in the second half considering your strong home record, I think we were unlucky not to win in the end, Friedel and Cuellar were immense for you. Having said that I suspect we would have both taken a point at the start of play. Good luck for the rest of the season

Think MON is very conscious of the quality of Spurs. Coming to the Lane last week enhanced his respect for our ability. His tactics was one of fear to hold on to what he had against a better team. Even with 5 men in midfield playing at home with a lead you were defending as early as the start of the 2nd half. Would have been an injustice if you had won.

That might be true Richmond if the sad fact wasn't this is what we do every game - regardless of opposition quality.

Totally Outplayed for 75mins, quite alarming at how we backed off with 10 men behind the ball in the 2nd half. It was spurs at home, not man u at old trafford. Plus points L Young marked lennon out the game, and defoe didnt get a kick. other than that we were ***** poor.

The more telling stat which reflects the real possession was that Spurs made more than double (400+) successful passes, Villa less than half that. If you talk about successful foreward passes to feet on the ground in the oppositions half then it would be Spurs 260 Villa 2 (my estimate). It was embarrassing the difference in ability to control the ball and play football on the deck. I know there are strengths to Villa's game, but an over dominance of hitting it high and down the flanks is just too predictable. Rio and Sidders will have some good games and some bad games by their own standards (like everyone does) but they are just not going to get any better than what we have already seen which is not good enough for a team with upwardly mobile ambitions. Delph, Downing , Albrighton and Bannan may taker us forward. I am sick of saying it and most Villa fans are sick of saying the same things over and over again. OK we are 5th which is great in many ways, but it is so frustrating that if we added a bit of midfield craft to the clear strengths we have elsewhere then we may take another step forward, but MON is stuck in his thinking and will not budge. There is no way we can improve on where we are now unless we get some more guile into midfield, and I think we already may have the players to do it onour books. If we sign somebody who is established with experience the standard we would attract will be no better than the guys we already pick. Barry was 17 when he became a fixture, so was Becham. Good to see Reo-Coker back in the starting line-up, unfortunately wasn't as glad to see Beye start or Sidwell come on. (Delph, Downing or dare I say Gardner would have been a better bet.) The Carew/Heskey switch was totally unexpected ... NOT! Heskey did actually do OK when he came on (probably a 10/10 by his own low standards.) A positive must be, even though our fellow 'pretender' "played us off the park" after 90 mins, they were still no better off. Loving MO'N's post match comment BTW, "We will try & learn something from the game - maybe to try & get a 2nd goal when we are in charge."

Roehe, others will soon realise if they are not already aware that Spurs possess a huge offensive threat. You had both Young's on Lennon and made sure you had a 3rd close by in an attempt to try and keep him contained. Yet he made a brilliant cross for Defoe to nearly score a deserved winner. While Defoe who you say didn't have a kick, had a brilliant effort following a flowing passing movement that just cleared the bar, He then manufactured a great shot for himself that went narrowly wide. I agree though you were outplayed.

Our defence was outstanding, but then I guess they get a load of practice!!!!

oh I thought I had been directed to Vital Spurs for a minute then! I'm not bothered who outplayed who, it was 1-1 and I should think both sets of fans would've been happy with that before the game.

Oh how painful it is to not beat spurs. I can't stand when the creepy crawlers leave their skidmarks on our site. First half was genuinely entertaining on both sides. I thought both teams were pretty even and the 1 goal lead was deserved. Second half, I don't know what I was watching...Was it a MON tactic talk at halftime that caused us to hoof instead of playing the triangles on the ground, patiently waiting for an opening? Spurs definitely deserved the goal. I was crying on 60 mins for him to put Sidwell or Downing on and take off Carew to pack the midfield and protect the lead.

I was crying when he put Sidders on! We had the 1st half, they had the second, end of, hence 1-1. Strange that they're coming on here talking like they won! But that's Spuds fans for you...

have to agree we would of been better taking carew off and replacing him with gardner and leave gabby up front on his own .... milner and ashley play out too wide which leaves petrov and reo-coker/sidwell too much ground to cover .... we either need to play 4-3-3 (away) or 4-5-1 (at home) because 4-4-2 is to predictable.... and has it proved against liverpool .... petrov, sidwell and Reo-coker as a central midfield play well together .... sadly Carew and Heskey look slow and inaffective lately .... goals would still come from midfield and gabby.... trouble is if we got to 60 mins and we were not 2up then i could see MON switching back to 4-4-2 ... as much as i hate to admit it .... perhaps we need someone with Harry's flair and imagination .... just not his mouth - lol

Although the ref gave everything to Spurs and was generally shocking that was one of the best Spurs teams i`ve seen in quite a while,we worked our cobs of but again the quality just isn`t there across the whole team.

Richmondspur, one cross all game, well that is simply world class, oh and 2 strikes from outside the box in front of our defence, well once again man of the match stuff. as for being double marked, he better get used to that, Ashley young is often treble marked, oh and he managed to get more than 1 cross in all game.

Spurs fans, mouthy? Arrogant? Annoying? Nooooo. I just don't understand why they are so disliked by many. I mean they're so understated and friendly.
