DROP CAREW AND HESKEY!! Uninterested?? Lazy?? Off-form?? Unfit?? I dont know, all I know is that they are anonymous in so many games!! We need to get back to 4-5-1 and see how good Delph can be - beside Petrov and Reo-Coker that would work. If he is insisting on 4-4-2 play Delfouneso until January. Get shot of those two useless lumps Heskeyneverscore and Carewworldclassfor1in10games and see if we can get someone who knows where the back of the net is!!

I was gutted when i saw Beye playing, not because i think he is crap, but coz Luke Young is clearly better. Who will he play against bolton now... gardener?Reo? Im also gettin sick of Ashley Young, he hasnt looked like wanting to play for us at all this season. His inability to cross the ball from corners and set pieces atm is dreadful. For me, MON made a big mistake tonight, i read we played well, but like for like. Get Albrighton on the wing, he would relish this opportunity. As for Heskey, it doesnt help his confidence if he is getting stick from us lot for not scoring, then being played as a winger!!! It's a joke! (angry rant over, i'll regret it in the morning'

Here's a bit of balanced positive constructive thinking from someone who has not seen the match and just had the benefit iof radio commentary. Rubbish Villa, the studio view and the sound of it was that we were trying 84% but we need Ron Sanders 110% every match and we just do not get it. MON wants it too, but it is his responsibility to ensure he gets it. His absoltely pathetic use of his substitutes and squad selections of players whose performances do not justify their presence on the pitch breeds complacency. Heskey has done nothing to deserve the shirt and was a waste of 45 minutes which even MON seems to have decided by a very rare tactical substitution. But big Carew who is a hero when bothered was again doing nothing in the second half so we wait and wait and wait, but he stays there. Get players who give 84% off the pitch. Get players who give 99% off the pitch. I want and demand 110% and so should MON. Not actually possible, but so what. We should demand it anyway. We know what 110% is. As for last season we are missing the craft and guile of Barry, but Petrov is still there. But after Barry and Laursen, our clear best player last season was Luke Young in my view. What has Beye done to be on the pitch ahead of him in tonigh't game. Again obviously I have not seen the match, but as well as giving away the penalty and being sent off - perhaps unluckily for all I know, he was picked out by the studio for being poor generally. Beye and anyone's attitude coming off the Villa bench must be difficult to feel right. Either peed off for never getting any chances, and not at the races, or wound up so much because they know this is such a rare event and they might have to wait a thousand years to get another opportunity. This is not how you utilise your squad to the optimum. Fair enough you can lose any game 2 1 on the day to a 90th minute sickener - but all Villa's games are narrow finger biting scrapes which could go either way. Not good enough. Use your subs. Use your squad. Use your youth. Don't change the team endlessly for changes sake. But do take off (or don't even pick) players who are not doing it. Do give others a chance if the situation demands it. Some of this lot are not good enough, but might improve if wound up a bit more. Otherwise there are players out there who deserve their chance and might just be a revelation. We will never find out. MON is getting on my wick and I want and was his biggest fan (or so it felt to me). Please have a bolt from the blue and get everybody wound up and buzzing on the pitch and then the fans can start buzzing too. I watch Villa as much as I can but also watch Blackpool and Fleetwood Town locally and Stenhousemuir a few times each season on trecks up north. Only Villa matter in the great scheme of things. They are the team, my team, my only team. The one that excites mne (memories) and riles me. But the entertainment value of the football I have seen this season is waves and waves of Blackpool attacks and Fleetwood Town attacks with 110% commitment. Not from Villa. Too contented. Managed by MON and too easily resting on their laurels. Here endeth my gripe at listening to a 90th minute defeat by an inferior team against a team who were trying, but not trying enough for me. And yes as I said I have not seen it, but this is the studio at Radio 5's view too and they said as much throughout the game. I now defer to those who have actually seen it for their views.

whilst driving to work this morning listening to talksport, alan brazil was having a chat with dion about our chances against the hammers, saying "ah,villa have a chance of sneaking into the top six this evening".....................and there i was staring out the window into the cold grey damp winter thinking....."ah christmas is coming and the aston villa charity shop will be open very soon" and there we have it! Put up a good show against chelsea and get done by the teams at the lower end AGAIN, i am sick of this crap, we should be mudering this lot, but we can only do so if we play our best....as has been said here in these messages STILL NO LUKE YOUNG, what the hell is going on, this was one of our best players last season and after all his issues, he now cant get into the side before the replacement full back. Mon is becoming an irratant, his selections beggar belief more crazy selections than the original tinker man raneiri, but at least he played players in there right positions, unlike this geezer. how much of the owners money has been spent to put out a team to produce a result like this.MON has stated RL made him custodian of the football club after his row with NRC. If i was RL i would asking the gatekeeper why are you keeping my best players off the pitch and allowing below par performances from AY, JC and EH to continue. Since Man U were linked to AY in the summer, it seems he cant be bothered, falling over at every tackle and lacking the ability to cross the ball first time after beating a man or from set pieces. have i been dreaming here? wasnt john robertson one of the best wingers seen in this country in the last 25 years? So is there any chance we can get AY on the training pitch and show him how it should be done. We should never have bought heskey, bent would have been a better long term fix and Carew needs to get his act together, he is letting himself down as well as the team, he seems to be having a strop...........now apparently MON is a great motivator, so get motivating and start with Carew. I think the carling cup is a good chance for us this year to put some silverware in the cabinet, so just you watch us get turned over at pompey, another shower at the bottom........never mind we can always have a go at challenging for sixth place, seasons greetings.

I did see the game tonight. We played some very good football in the first half, but lacked the 'killer touch'. Very unlucky to be one down at the interval ( i thought Beye got a big touch on the ball). Desreved to be level and was sure we would go on and win the game. However, from that point we stopped playing/passing or run out of steam and West Ham started to take control. Poor clearance by Luke Young for the goal. We have major problems, I think. Heskey was better than Carew tonight, but that doesn't say much. Ashley, despite his goal, is not playing well enough. I believe the performances of Stewart Downing will be critical to where we finish in the league.

As an impartial i would have said the ref was very poor, but as i'm in no way impartial the ref was a Wa**^r. Their penalty was a good touch on the ball from Beye (i'd rather have seen Luke playing mind you) and our penalty was quite a good leap to clear the ball from their defender simple as that. Numerous other fouls that were normal play and the Beye second yellow was just a foul, no more. Steve Bennett is normally one of the better ones but tonight he was terrible. Carew was a spectator for most of the game, unless he was giving away free kicks, sorry LJC he was awful, would rather have seen Emile up there tbh. Ashley needs to stay on his feet more and take remedial free kick lessons after school too!!

I agree with most of whats been said . I have come to the realisation that things will never change at the Villa . Every year i think this is the year that we will sweep all before us .. then we end up in the ash pan again. Ashley Young's goal looked really good but it was an accident , he was trying to pass it to the keeper like he had been the whole game but made a mistake . I think we are relying on Ash too much .. So many of our attacks end up as floating crosses straight into the keepers arms . Not a nice thing to say but i would like to see some of our players get injured . It would be the only way Mon would change the team and we need a change as we are too predictable . Maybe we need two men in charge , Mon to motivate the team and somebody with a bit more imagination (and not holding grudges) to manage the team on matchday (joke)(maybe). I am a big Mon fan but i think we will always be bridesmaids while he runs the team . Habib Beye was having a good game until the ref decided to give him two dodgy decisions . I think we shouldn't play a right back on saturday maybe two left backs .. its the only way we will finish with 11 men . I loved Mon's quote "But having said this if we had not been beaten here tonight we would at least have taken something out of the game."

Yes .. i expect to get some flak because i thought Beye played well .. i know its not pc to like a right back who isn't Luke Young . I also think Carlos played well on the weekend also . Yes i do think Luke is the best right back and also the best left back .

beye did play pretty well. i thought tonights game gave MON an opportunity to mix things up a bit. but no, he plays heskey, carew and gabby. weird. and petrov a bit sore. why not start Reo, Delph and Albrighton, you can always change it! we are looking predictable and with a bit of rotation might find some hunger and freshness that we really need..........

Mon says we got tired. Good job we ain't in Europe then - if we were we would be asleep. Sorry I remember when players played on awful energy sapping pitches and played week in week out with no international breaks and no 5 star gyms and replenishment centres. Fact is we lost against a bottom three team - address that and stop making pathetic excuses. We will never progress if we have a mental mindset that say we can only play once a week. isn't that why we have a squad?

MON could have taken Beye off for Luke Young as it always looked like he would pick up another yellow. Not sure about the 'tactical' sub at half time either. The game was crying out for Albrighton and / or Delph. Having watched the game I felt that tactical ineptitude far outweighed the woeful referee and the players' overall performance (which was in fact quite good).

what is it with MONs "we got tired". there is a thing called 'squad' and 'rotation', even 'substitute'. i like MON but remain concerned at what appears to be a serious lack of flexibility.

I put the blame fully at MON's feet with the formation/tatics. Apart from the odd decent performance we seem to be carrying on in the same vein heartless vein as last year. Play 4-5-1, play reo coker, drop Carew, sort it out Martin
