Another decent 3 points. First half was most definitely the highlight and the whole match petered out in the second half.

Slightly worrying the chances we allowed Pompey, but Friedel was in fine form again.

Another mildly impressive cameo from Delph aswell. Onwards and upwards and let's see if we can make it 5 on the bounce when we meet up with old mates Whits and Encks in the Cardiff Cup tie!

Chances came through the Midfield, still don't think we have that area tidied up yet, still think we should put 5 across the middle. Defence and attack is working well though. Hope James Collins is ok!

Kinda, if we persist with playing back to front, carew makes a big difference. But we do look really light in midfield with only 2.. Good win though, pompey might have dominated the stats but the game wasnt even close

Good result. Decent display by Warnock & Collins. Dunne needs to work on his heading & what the hell was that pass 2 Friedel? (Who BTW was excellent IMO.) Best part of the match apart from Gabby's goal was on the 77th minute. Heskey injured! The guy can't even walk, run or jump without making a balls of it. Hopefully he won't B bk in a Villa shirt anytime soon (or at all). Bit disappointed Gardner didn't get nod ahead of Delph. Again, we did what was needed, well done lads.

didn't have to get out of second gear, bit boring at times but the 3 points is the only thing that matters. Some of our players aren't even in form yet and still we have 4 wins, imagine when they all click and are on form!?

Yeah StuLinney - well done - a Villa player injured woohoo!! Idiot! How long was he on the pitch for??? How many minutes has he played since a great two games for England??? I dont think he should start for us but I tell you what, he will put the work in for Villa as his England place is under threat. IF we can manage him right, he can be an asset for us. Whether or not he is as good as Carew, Gabby or The Fonz - dont wish injury on the bloke!

Deano - great games for England?

And let's not start eh chaps!

Olof - according to the OS yes, BBC gave us less shots on target or off target - something like that. I check a few sources before publishing so I have a reasonable average.

Well played by Brad but I got the feeling we could have had a hat full today. A few obversations though:
Carew appeared not interested, Gabby appeared interested.
Ash has lost his nerve and will cross / pass rather than skin
Centre backs look great
Cuellar is not a maurading right back, and so the counter attack suffers.
Warnock will probably miss a few matchs for giving the ball away in a stupid possition
We have options!!!! We take a (disinterested) Carew off and then loose Heskey but still can create a balanced team.
The croud still don't know ho to take a professional time waste end to the game in the corners think 3 points not instant gratification!!!

Never booed Gabby & never will. Never booed Heskey either. Heskey doesn't put the effort in @ Villa. He seems a likeable guy off the pitch & fair enough I prob over reacted with earlier comment as I was so relieved the decision has now been taken out of O'Neill's hands.

Stu. Top response-No apology needed and I take back the Gabby comment. Yes you are right about Brown. Also can we play Belhadji every week. He seems to loose his head every game against the Villa

Good man Stu, and mike_field I think he did play well for England. I think Heskey is a good player in a 4-2-3-1 kind of formation. He holds off the 2 centre backs with back to goal and can feed an incoming Gerrard, Lampard or Rooney. In fact, I could see him working if we didnt play with Young and Milner so wide. I think he would be a very useful player for about 12-15 of the Premiership teams, but for the other ones he is a square-peg round-hole. I think we are one of those!! Any formation to accommodate him, Carew or Gabby would be a better option!!
