I'm proud of 10 of our players tonight. It wasn't a sterling performance by any standard, but it was a battling one. They wanted to win, they wanted the group stages and gave their all.

Sadly Heskey managed one hand ball in the box, I actually thought he'd left the field prior to halftime he was so 'involved' in the game, so he was up to his normal standard since he signed obviously. 81 minutes he goes off for Gabby. Great management.

Martin you let your team down tonight, don't blame the fans, don't make excuses...take responsibility.

We were doing so well carrying a man, in effect we were still playing the FOUR FIVE ONE that has been so successful for us that you seem to want to ignore. Had we had 11 players tonight, we'd be through. So what next, kids in the domestic Cups so we can concentrate on the league again? Small squad, tired excuses...yes your excuses are tired.

You just bank on the press blindly following the same old misnombers about young squad, wonderfully attacking, great quick passing football club cliches you love - whereas those who have seen the last 18 months for ourselves will make up our own opinion.

The team can hold their heads high tonight, they gave all we expected and I for one applaud them generously. If anyone booed tonight Martin, let me reassure you, it wasn't aimed at Gabby for a start, nor the rest of the team. You're an intelligent man, think on.

Disappointing. As soon as we went two goals up we seemed to just want to pass it back to the keeper every time. ultimately sloppiness at the back yet again cost us. Just feels like the whole of last seasons efforts in qualifying automatically have been wasted.

Gutted for Ash, Milner, Carew and Cuellar in particular. They played their socks off. Gutted for Curtis Davies. Can't fault the players, Heskey excluded. 4-4-2 and Heskey as a starter is costing the Villa matches. It cost the club a place in the CL last season. For all you Believers who think that MON is the Messiah, think again. Don't think that because the side is now free to concentrate on the league, things will improve. As long as MON is playing 4-4-2 and Heskey, this club will slide down the table. Fulham is now a huge game for the club. UTV!!!

God, 14 attempts they had. They should've won 5-2 on the night at least. RAPID VIENNA...at VILLA PARK?! We are a joke.
