well, again, I'm told this site is negative, so I'll go out on a positive. It isn't the result that counts, it is the taking part. And if you believe that.....! Certainly was another awful performance, this is the 4th season and I just can't see where we are improving anywhere on the pitch at all. Such a shame, this is our lovely Villa we are talking about. :o(

I've been calling for 4-5-1, but not with Heskey up front, the man can't score when he plays in a pair let alone on his own. We want to score goals. We play Heskey as our lone striker. Those last two sentences don't go together, ever, they don't work, a bit like our team

I'm so dissapointed in MON, I've been looking back at his interviews on sky and him repeatedly stating ayt the end of last season we need to reinforce the squad on top of replacing those who have left. Do not know about you lot but i'm still waiting for that to happen, i feel left down massively.

such a shame. i'd already accepted that us taking part in the league is pointless this season- we wont finish it the top 6, but we wont get relegated either. MON will toss away the league cup, and we never do well in the FA cup. The one thing i was looking forward to was going on a tasty cup run in Europe. But we spend a whole season trying to qualify for it, only to screw it up when there's 1 match left to qualify. How on Earth can anyone think that Heskey on his own up front is the way to get goals?! The whole world can see it's crap, except for that whanker O'Neil. Bring back O'Leary!

We have some good players, what concerns me is that they can't appear to play together for the last 18 games or so (and for over a season now at B6). It can't be a player thing, it has to be a motivation / tactical thing.

just a quick comment on the poll 2, heskey is always the fall guy, but gardner reo coker and sidwell were non existant in the middle, this left ash and milner distant and dont even start on the defence. Empty promises from MON, if something drastic doesnt happen in the next 10 days we are in big big trouble folks

Sell Heskey! He's no good for us, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. MON is so far up Heskey he feels an obligation to include him, it is totally against the best interest of Villa. Sell Heskey and 20% of the problem is sorted, buy 2 CB's, a creative midfielder and a goal scorer and the other 80% is sorted. We can not keep Heskey, it is too tempting for MON 1) to play him and 2) to play 4-4-2 using him.

Its not a good result, but although we didnt play well, i felt it was an improvement on the Wigan game. Good to see O'neill revert to 4-5-1. Only things i would have changed was gardener for petrov and heskey for gabby. I must admit i noticed that Sidwell was brilliant attacking wise and passing the ball to young from defence, but he cant defend at all. I think we will sign one defender and thats it, but i think we need 2cbs and some1 like Tuncay who can play midfield and attack, and thats just to keep us in contention for top 7. Im optimistic tho, id rather start the season shockingly and end on a high like everton last year!

Can i just ask all you calling for MON's head, have you all forgotten we finished 16th 4 seasons ago? Under MON, we then finished 11th? Under MON, we then finished 6th for 2 consecutive seasons & flirted with champions league? Yes, we faded towards the end of last season, and OK, we have had 2 bad games, but surely the guy deserves some time to bring it round? Fickle? bloody joke!

Ericols_son - do u realise based on consecutive perfomances from our draw with Stoke last season till now, we would be relegation contenders, other mangers have been fired for far less. so how much time do u think is sufficent to turn things round. i am a MON fan, but for gods sakes look at his signing's aside from the like of milner and young. we lose great players and they are not adequatly replaced. We buy Downing for 12mill and Arsenal buy Vermaelen for 10mill - i wonder which manager as more business savy!!! i am not calling for MON's head i just wish he wud address the concerns which are seem abundantly clear. he must just FIX IT.

I still say Heskey is S****. Lets have a list of all those strikers that over they years we have deemed to be crap....! MY STARTER....HESKEY ! Having said that...I saw the game on the net...Shorey played well I thought....I know that goes against current thinking....but he was not bad at all....Habib Beye though...shocking !
