They looked a tired bunch of lads in the second half, but a win is a win! Couple of dodgy offside decisions against us and a penalty shout, and some great saves from Myhill.

I hear you though on the subs.....maybe O'Neil is finally catching on as regards doing what's necessary to close out some of these tight games....a few late subs to wind the clock down a few crucial minutes.....nice one!

Night game and 40,000 turn up to watch Villa take on a bottom of the table side Hull City. I remember standing on the Holte years ago and watching Villa paste them 5-0 Oh for those halcyian days to return.

Not a great performance, good and if it wasnt for Myhill we would have won 3 or 4 nil, but very pleased we won cos thats what its all about.

We didn't concede a goal in the last ten minutes, but the O'Neill-induced mindset of the players (ie. hang on desperately to a one-goal need, having previously been in total control of the game) gave Hull hope they should never have had. We won today in spite of O'Neill, so all credit to the players, but we need to get in a manager who is going to stop holding back a group talented enough to legitimately challenge the top-4.

After 3 years in charge we are now a top 6 club challenging the top 4, yes he has spent a lot of money but that was needed to get thus far. What do u want man apart from shooting. UP THE VILLA. Well said astonsteve, Albarnista the players that had Myhill performing heroics last night are players that have been bought and coached by MON, sometimes the opportunties are converted, sometimes a goalkeeper plays out of his skin. Thats the way it goes sometimes, on another night we would have won that game comfortably but had to show real commitment to make sure we shut them out. This continual negativety is doing my head in, YJ and avfc48 will be on next.

I say we take away Championship manager and Fifa09 games away from these people. Seems that playing those games makes average joe into a world class manager who knows all there is to know about football (even though it's as much use as dog S***t on the sole of a shoe) ;o)

Albamista makes a good point but the moaning about MON is needless. When we were on our winning streak we could hold onto leads, its only since our recent slump that we have sat back and got further and further back and eventually conceded. When we played Everton the first time we just went and scored another every time they did. The current slump was down to not MON but mainly the defence which is poor without Laursen and I'm sure will be addressed in the summer.
