I'm proud of them tonight. Petrov was excellent, Gardner showed why he shouldn't be played at right back. Shorey gave us a performance that reminds us why he was so highly rated. However, if we continue to play with 10 men when Carew is on the pitch, regardless of the fact he scored I think I'm going to tear my hair out. I'm proud of the lads tonight because they battled, ran their socks off and chased everything. They gave their all. Carew didn't again, for whatever reason - but for me this is one match too many. The only bright part from Carew was once he scored his head did lift, so maybe it's a confidence issue I don't know. All I know is if somebody like Ash puts himself in a position to get hurt and somebody built like Carew doesn't - then something is wrong somewhere.

Ah, the old blame it on Carew link !! How many chances did Gabby miss again ? They scored from no chances yet we miss loads - 3 x Gab,1 x Carew,1 x Ash, 1 x Gardner. 2 down and 1 to go,if only we`d bought in Jan.......................................

Aspinall, Moscow had 6 shots on target. Did you look at the above stats before you commented? I agree about Carew, but luckily, his lazy hanging around put him in the right place to score the equaliser. Nevermind, Heskey will probably play next week. Besides, as was said earlier, it was Gabby again, like on Sunday, who missed the best chances.

Thought we were a bit unlucky tonight, although we avoided a straight red for Guzan due to a terrible linesman,I think Gabby was clean through but wrongly called for offside aswell. Two clear handballs, and Gardner was unfortunate to hit the bar.Wasn't particularly impressed by CSKA if Zat could stop being sucked towards the ball like a moth to a lightbulb they would have done nothing upfront.Gabby needs a rest and Carew needs a rocket up his arse, thought his goal was fortunate,he didnt seem o strike it as well as he could have.Heskey is miles better than him.Quietly confident going into the next leg.

Ah the old blame it on Carew

Yeah you've heard me blame him often haven't you, today was the final straw. How many did Gabby miss, a hatful - least he got off the halfway line and tried, more than Carew did other than his goal isn't it. Maybe given his build if he'd been challenging in the box more often Carew wouldn't have been the only one to benefit from everyone else trying.

All said and done about the ref. He was very bad, but it could have been far worse. He could have red carded Guzan an d given a penalty, and he could have sent Barry off for a stamp!

Gabby needs a goal that he's scored with a good finish (not a deflection). Not a rest.

BTW. I wonder why we didn't make use and substitutes? Next time its a sell out and I don't have a ticket, do you think MON will let me sit on the bench?

Everytime the fonz has played he's done well,he must have the best goals to game ratio in the squad its important that we play him,we have a gem there.Glad to see Gardner get a chance again in midfield,he's got great potential.

Was anyone else shocked by Barry getting sponsors MOTM? Too much free booze. For me he seemed to give the ball away far too many times especially 2nd half. Very proud of the fight back though. Let us all remember CSKA Moscow have ALREADY qualified for nxt years Champios League.

Tonight, there was 3 issues with the team, 1 Brad Guzan who scared me every time the ball went near him, 2 Carew who don't seam to give much effort and 3 Gabby who is fast but lacks heading, shooting and dribbling skills. Apart from that the team was fantastic and it was good to see shorey have a good game. Unfortunately Gabby and Carew are there to score goals and thats our problem, create loads, score few. I would team Heskey up with the Fonze and Gabby up with Carew and put the parining in direct competition, then play the best pair. I think we would,'t see much of Gabby and Carew! Saying that we were by far the best team and will kick ass in Moscow.

To be fair i don't think Carew is match fit but he finished his chance(great set up by Gardener) and he was unlucky not to score against everton he should get better as season comes to an end.

We were better tonight and should have won handily. Gabby needs to bury it! Moscow had some nice passing and Love did some nice turns and tricks but, really, they got little (except one gift from our defence). You can tell they've got a south American coaching them; its just too bad the ref couldn't tell. A great deal of their fouls had nothing to do with the ball and everything to do with stopping Villa on the counter attack. Love isn't all that. He's a diver, that much is certain. I think we'll kill them in Moscow.

I thought Barry was class again, Petrov too. Again, Gab misses a great header, just like he did at Everton. If he is off form then we dont win games. Simple. Carew didnt use his height, he was asking for balls to feet. For me Ashley is out of form at the moment. Now that is worrying.

The stats board in the ground gave CSKA 2 shots on target. Carew looked like a weight was lifted off his shoulders when he scored. Guzan was shocking (still better than Carson though.) Luke Young and Craig were quality along with Barry and Stan. Gabby MUST look up or know whats around him rather than getting the ball down then running aimlessly. Its O.K. if he's up front on his own with acres of space but not when he has 2 men on him in the 18 yard box. Should have put Petrov in for the one two but looked startled to see the ball.

RiF says that our problem is a shortage of goals. Does he ever look at the league table? ManU scored 44, Liverpoo scored 42, Villa scored 40. It's not our lack of goals that is the problem, it's the fact that we concede so many.
