First potential banana skin avoided in how many years? ;) Nice to see us through though! UTV

They did deserve a replay at Villa Park.

I enjoyed that, good full bloodied cup tie, we always do things the tough way but at least we did it!

And another banana skin coming up - I would prefer Doncaster over Cheltenham

A concern that with the current injuries it was our strongest 11. Looked very lightweight up front I thought. For a game like that I'd thave thought MON would have gone for the extra strength of the Hare, who is now obviously 4th choice. I was also very disappointed with Shorey's distribution especially from set pieces in the final third.

good point AMS78, it is a worry and this is year 3 squad wise, not year 1.

Ive noticed on some sites such as Setanta and Team talk, that Villa fans are slagging off their owen team after today. While it was not the best performance from Villa today we still made it through. Back in the O'Dreay days and the Taylor days we would have folded and lost, but we are progressing under O'neil. I for one new it would not be a 4, 5-0 thrashing because it never is in the F.A Cup, thats the beauty of the cup. So we all new it would be very tough no matter what league Gillingham are in, just glad to be in the 4th round. It will be another tough game in the 4th round but im confident will make it into the 5th round. UTV

Great game. I was getting a little jumpy although I never really doubted we'd make it through. Well played Gillingham. Good luck for the rest of the season. I once went to Doncaster Rovers to see them play Scarborough. Scarborough won and I got called a cockney w@nker - I was wearing a Villa shirt (they're not that bright in Doncaster!).

I really thought Shorey was woeful today - he seemed really nervous and after every slip and misplaced pass he seemed to have a real look of disappointment as if to say - that me not playing next week then. He seems like he REALLY wants to do well!
