Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp: "I thought Sol Campbell was terrific. He was up a big man in John Carew and did splendidly."

MON needs to have the balls to drop players like Reo-Coker ( Carson and Petrov last year) to win the games. If we had 2 goalkeepers that were promised a game every week and were vocal members in the dressing room etc then I am sure he would manage to fit them both into the team. Fullbacks get dropped first as they are the easiest position to play and then we have players playing out of position rather than specialists and GB is wasted out wide. This formation was obviously done to fit in Milner and Cuellar but we won't win anything bowing to player demands. I am suprised Beckham didn't turn up for a cameo 2 and a half minutes at the end. He is apparently after a return to the prem so watch this space.........

Hmmm...my first trip to Villa Park this season. Frustrating game to watch. The line-up confused me, but in Martin I trust. A word about Milner - his passing today was wretched, properly wretched. I lost count of the amount of passes he hit straight out of play...very worrying. The atmosphere seemed really cagey today too. Hey ho, Petrov was outstanding though and I got to have a quick chat with Carew outside in the carpark!

I was just wondering what formation villa played on the weekend as i didn't get to see the game. Also, i'd like to say that i don't think reo coker has been that bad this year Villan444, i think is in the squad to play a role and thats to be a bit narrower through midfield and also give our midfield a bit of hardness. He struggles with his passing at times, but there is noone better at breaking up play than him, probably even in the whole league. On Milner, it was his first start so surly he will need a bit of time to settle.

Disappointing afternoon, we just didn't do enough to win the three points. Interesting team selection by MON, he'll no doubt receive criticism for it, but on another afternoon, it may well have produced the desired result.

Thought that Campbell was superb for them. He had our strikers in his pocket throughout. A quality defender still, even allowing for the advancing years.
