How did we do, in LA at the mo. Sounds as if I missed a thriller. Europe is gone now I reckon. Oh well!
In LA you name dropping git... Villa were**** poor and deserved nothing from the game at all. Lucky we have Pompy coming up on Saturday, the players need a chance to put things right and this could be their opportunity to do it.
just need to consolidate 6th and go via inter toto, lucky tonight very lucky
Boro do pull these results out the hat, we never seem to give the opposition credit. They've beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U more than we have in recent seasons
It's sunny here by the way. Why didn't he give Harewood a start? I think the Cahill transfer may come back to bite us
wish i was in LA
yeah cos we are counter attack team, but we have the team to beat boro but the ywere up for it tonight and played well. They are inconsistent and unluckily we had a good boro turn up and shoud have finished the game off with a few chances, hey ho we are still progressing bloody good season stiill, just need to limp over that line...
Villa fans must admit that we were the better side and it was a VERY dodgy penalty - dodgy decisions seems the referee's theme this season. We got punished for not putting our chances away.
We've been unlucky too e.g. Arsenal in the previous game! Being a Boro fan must drive you mad one game to the next?
Very much so, but i will love them forever more and have my season ticket as long as i am here :) O'Neils teams have always done very well against us, both for you + Leicester in the past. I did say on our forum though that knowing us we will go and get something at Villa and/or Arsenal after Sundays performance.
yeh its just football, frustrating most the time
Yes, lucky to get a point tonight marron, but then Mido should have put you 2 up and there would have been no way back. Bad day at the office, in fact an awful day at the office. Got to get straight back v Pompey but that is going to be a very difficult game, especially if we keep insisting on playing long ball!
The Fear
I'm in LA too! Cause I live here.....What are you doing here tarzan? It's sunny out, but could be alot nicer. Anyway, i'm heartbroken again. Being a villa fan isn't easy. Goodbye europe. let's just pray for intertoto I guess.
laursen guilty of that, kept hooof hoof hoofing it , we are a lot better plaing it on the floor
oi!! can people stop name checking they are in LA and that it is sunny! some people are in england in wind and rain!
Nevermind, time to move onto the next game. Villa is a team i like to see do well, unlike Everton + Spurs (brilliant night for them 2 :D) and hopefully you will get into Europe next season. Good luck for the rest of this term.
Gardner was appalling and it was obvious that with Downing they would target him. His strength over Mellberg is his forward play but we never got going. Barry was one of the worse players on the pitch and was infuriating. Carew was knocked off the ball all night. So much for the big-man. Carson was man of the match and kept us in it.
Really disappointed with the performance tonight. We were lucky to get a point. Fair play to The Holte End for the backing in the 2nd half although I thought no one seemed really up for it in the first half including the crowd. WHY so many long, straight balls. We have 2 of the fastest players in Gabby and Ashley but we failed to get the ball to them in positions where they could run at the defence and get around the back of them. Marlon tried but couldn't quite come up trumps this time. Too many players had a bad day. However lets all remember how far we have come. One bad game does not make a bad season. COME ON YOU LIONS!! Let's take out our frustration on Pompey.
Adam Deuce
We were not up for it at all. It wasn't that Boro were better than us, we made them look half decent because we were so *****. If we play like that against Portsmouth on saturday we will get stuffed.
And another thing, Barry had an absoloute shocker. In the second half Reo-Coker was doing the work for both him and Barry.
Im just glad there are not stats for poor passes and giving the ball away as this would show what a disgraceful display Villa put on tonight.
We're always *****e in the midweek games,I dont think we've won a midweek leauge game since Reading in MoN first home game.Very gracious Boro fan there fair play to him,I think we may have taken tonights game for granted.
Barry did have a shocker, but he wasn't the only one. Has Barry gone downhill since he signed his fat new contract? I wonder sometimes, i really do. Knight's mistake cost us a goal (Where have i heard that before?), Bouma gave the ball away about three times more than he completed successful passes, mellberg and gardner did little better. We are in dire need of new full backs for both sides. We need full backs that can take people on and actually pass to their own team. Everyone hoofed the ball long, which Middlesboro simply loved. Carew and Gabbi were anonymous. Young looked ok but was constantly kicked everytime he went by someone. Marlon at least looked like he cared. We were god awful really. We had no initiative or imagination tonight. I know we can do better, we all know we can do better, we have been playing better than that for 90% of the season, but watching the match tonight made our claim for European football look like a total p155 take
The Usual Suspect
didn't follow the game tonight, was busy on the emotional rollercoaster at GP tonight, 7 behind with 9 to go, villa will probably need to win out from here to finish top 5
dead right evertonmike. The only way this can be made up is if we beat Man U. Then it will be like nothing happened. I love logic!
OH and sorry about your loss today mike. I was rooting for both english clubs. (the more you play, the more tired you are for the premiership!)
Glad it's nice in LA. It's 38 degrees here in OZ. Would rather have a cold night and a balti pie at Villa Park though. Even if we were crap.
Melbourne Villa
unlucky villa!
Harewood has to start. How come that Gardner and Maloney did what Mellberg and Petrov did in the Newcastle game. MON needs to make sure that they are up to the task before starting them. Zat and Carson both could have done much better for their goal. Barry needs a rest. His lack of speed seemed worse than normal with the wind.
MON put too much pressure on them by saying that this was a must win game and they all bottled it. They are not used to the pressure as they are not used to winning things and still a young team but they need to learn quickly as this is the mentality that winners need. The Intertoto battle is on and our only hope.
You may have to settle for 6th. I doubt if we at Pompey will going mad to get it. We have something else to worry about. Dispatched your b team last night, though they put up a fight. Should be a good game on Saturday but I think you'll need to win it more than we will.
Nowhere near good enough. We were lucky to get a point out of that sub-standard showing. No decent shots on target, no creativity, fortunate penalty award. Way too many Villans way off the pace.
Well said Melbourne Villa. You can keep your LA. LA aint got the Villa.
