We add a quality right back and a defence unlocker in centre mid we will be a real force! Chimbonda and Gudjohnson please, with Defoe and Hemrik Laursen to fill the squad! What a team that would be....Carson, Chimbonda, Melberg, Laursen, Barry, Gabby, Reo, Gudjohnson, Young, Defoe, Carew, with a bench of Sorenson, Davies, Maloney, Laursen and Moore.

Henrik Larson has signed a 12 month extension on his contract at Helsinborg. Great performance toady. A bit disappointed that Davies didn't get the clean sheet he was wishing for but hey ho..!! Good to see Salifou get on even if it was just for the injury time. I bet he couldn't believe the Holte were singing his name when he came on. Sali - SaliFOU, Sali - SaliFOU...!!! SIGN LAURSEN UP NOW MON.

I think same amount of wins at the end of last season now, thats progress, not newcastle instant success, you gotta build a team. Come on the Villa, some signings and villa are cruising

Great win. Gabby, Ash and Carew were outstanding. Thought Curtis and Laursen were superb too. Does anyone know whether Mellberg was really taken ill? Or taken to Turin?

MON as been quoted by Sky Sports, saying that Mellberg was ill just before the game. Not saying he's not off to Turin though!

Obviously Carew thinks someone is coming to take his place if he doesn't start scoring.

Yes, it was a 38,000 attendance. Fine performance by Big JC. Thought also that Martin Laursen and Stilyan Petrov had very good showings. Good all-round team effort, pity we went to sleep following the 'euphoria' of the substitutions, a clean sheet would have been nice.

keeper should NOT have been sent off. any other player on the pitch, and he wouldnt have been, so there is no diference. oh, and it was well outside the area, so definatly no penalty. just though i would say good win, seeing as villavillavilla came and...well, he came on our site yo say hi too...

Wow - I am so proud to be a Villa fan. We are finally winning the matches we should win, and giving the top teams a hard time. Just realised we are 4th top scorers in the league, and I thought we might struggle for goals this year. If we get a prolific striker in we will be awesome put together with the goals from elsewhere in the team. Fantastic.

Hahnemann was ****, shud hav gone, just sums up are fundamental problem of not getting rid of the players that are well passed it. Copps is a legend, but needs to realise that in order to progress we need to replace are aging players. In simpler terms, we are f***ing s**t, DLC at centre back, WTF???????

thought it was strangely amusing that the first thing salifou ever did for us was lose his man, who then got in and scored. he's still a legend though!

You are looking good fellas and although Reading don't travel well they still have to be beaten.. Carew seems to score every other game at least at the moment.. A shrewd signing that one.. Well done .. I just hope we can win at Sunderland today to stay in touch .. otherwise the top seven are going start to pull away...

Great atmosphere from the holte end, a bit quiet from the rest! The salifou song was amazing! I was so busy laughing I missed Readings goal. Once again, we didn't excel but still got a fantastic result. In fact gabby and young had a quiet game if anything! Gardner, Davies, Petrov and Boom Boom played well. Carson made some decent saves but occasionally looked a bit edgy... Great day out all round!

match announcer and score board said over 38 000 which looked about right as there weren't many empty seats apart from the away fan allocation.

Some tricky games on the horizon now, but I had included Reading in that description, so at least we are off to a flyer.
