Unlucky lads. Watched the game and you were unlucky. The scoreline sure flatters United. But that's what having quality like Rooney does for you, eh?

Eye-wateringly low attendance. Ok on TV but FFS... Man U in the 3rd round... p*ss poor.

AC- I think its what you call being wise to the inevitable, man utd are very good and they got a hoo doo over the villa to throw that in too. I knew we would lose, we looked tired and probably a blessing indisguise we are out and concentrate on the league, a cup run could of strectched the team even more

1st time villa aint scored for a while, carew looked unfit, on the plus point though Davies looks good, no more zat "I fall asleep"knight for a while. Need a goalscorer and to play it on the floor we kept hoofing it up to Carew, really rather annoying!

Watched it on TV and I thought Laursen and Barry did well today for you . I thought Park was poor for ManU and should have been brought off much earlier

I think Barry floored Ronaldo twice atleast :D Carew was unfit but glad he didn't start Harewood, Laursen did well, and i think Mellberg didn't do too badly he was in Man Utds half more than our own, if only he had abit of skill to him he would be dangerous, Floored Evra which was pretty funny.

KrisVilla, my thoughts exactly - smallest squad in the Prem... a possible blessing. Thought it would be a sell out today - Villa were one of the few clubs left that in recent years got decent gates for THE cup competition. Time moves on.. another tradition fading away. Sad. How may do you reckon United brought ... 5,000?

6,000 i think, its a home game for em, oh well, just really frustrating , villa looked lethargic against a very good man utd defence, Vidic is class and kept gabby at bay very well, but on the other hand gabby didnt get much today

I really don't think Villa wanted to win the game - given the tactics they used, namely, thump it up the middle and hope that Big John, on his own up front ,could perform a miracle without real support against some class defenders. Eight men behind the ball which is then thumped over their heads does not give us much chance. I thought we were a footballing side. Plus, the number of times Bouma gave the bal back to the opposition was frightening. It was almost like giving Manure an extra man. That said we will beat them soon, the team is coming together, they just were not that good today.

It will not always be this way one day Manyoo will visit Villa Park and go home after a thumping. May not be next season but our day is to come.

We didn't have any shots on target according to the stadium stats.

Had this discussion at the game yesterday 444. I guess there are different opinions about what is on target. For me it has to be between the posts pulling a save, maybe these stats gave Petrov's shot just over the bar as on target.

Maybe it started on target but swerved away midair!! Still was a good strike, shame too few and far between.

We weren't good enough. But who is when they're facing Manchester United? The other three in the supposed 'Big Four' have trouble with them. No shame in losing, but we certainly were far from our best.

They must have had around 7,000 or so fans at the game. Where were our part time brigade?
