You have a good team and you played well today. I wish you all the best for the rest of the season. But I do have a big complaint over your Carew's challenge on Hleb. It absolutely should of been a red card IMO. You watch that and you can see that Carew had no intention on playing the ball. Hleb had 2 steps on him and he just slide to try to take Hlebs legs out from under him. From what Ive heard Hleb has a gash in his ankle from Carew boots. It was a extremely classless challenge that really took away from a good game that Carew was having.

u guys atleast deserved a point... !
HENRY`14
Thanks guys - means alot coming from the leaders of the best league in the world!! Haven't seen the challenge from Carew - will have to watch the highlights tonight. He isn't a dirty player, but if it is deliberate it is inexcusable. Good luck for the rest of the season.

We could all moan about the ref though. Carews challenge was a booking, not a red. First offence it was. I was outraged with your players surrounding the ref for every decision. Disgraceful that is. And Sagna got away with 5 sinnical fouls and wasn't even booked. We could all say things! As for the game, we deserved a point. You hardy had an attempt in 2nd half. I would say good luck for rest of season but the way your players surrounded the ref today i can't im afraid. And by the way, wishawbhoy- get lost.

Good performance by your lads in the 2nd half, but I thought Arsenal did just about enough to take 3 pts. Awesome 1st half performance. randy stand - I agree about the ref surrounding. It was out of line and unnecessary, but its not normally done by the Arsenal players. Lets hope it was a one off. I am *****ed off about the Carew foul though, he had no intention to play the ball, and he took out Hleb from the game, who was outstanding till then.

Not sure where those match stats came from but the Opta Stats on the Setanta site gives something a little different. Possession 55.8% in favour of Arsenal for example. But good pressure play in the 2nd half though.
Amos.
Stats are from the BBC, did puzzle me a bit, to be honest.

I thought we deserved a draw, but I trust a win next week against pompey will be more achievable. Keep the faith

I think you didn't win cos Mr Fear was else where!

It was a really good game,Im delighted with the way we played in the second half,I hope Arsenal win the league (apart from us)

Over 42,000 to watch Villa play struggling Arsenal :-p but in reality the club is on the up in all ways not just on the pitch but as a whole.

In fairness arsenal fans, the Carew challenge is almost a carbon copy of a challenge that Adebayor made on Gabby in the first half. Yes, Hleb ended up with a gash which is unfortunate, but a bit of a case of pot calling the kettle black on that one if you ask me. Other than that though, fantastic game played in a good spirit, and it's a shame we didn't take something from it, we were excellent in the second half. Carew has great feet, even if he can't run worth a damn.

Awesome second half perfomance from you guys, but an even more awesome first half performance from us (unfortunately everyone only remembers the second half ... lol) I'd like to give Carew the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard for me to accept that it wasn't intentional due the fact that Hleb was mind blowingly awesome and once we lost him we fell to pieces. Sagna should have been booked for waving the imaginary card, but other than the Carew foul, I don't remember the Gunners surrounding the ref all the time.....just another instance of media hype (ie Setanta) causing a stir. Of course Gallas was booked for telling the ref to "***** off" but that was pretty funny (although on the record I am appalled). Good luck in keeping Spurs out of a Euro place!!!!!

Great game, its not often you come away from a home defeat reasonably happy but I certainly was yesterday, the lads certainly did us proud. Arsenal were different class first half, a joy to watch, but we deserved a point n our 2nd half showing. It says something that we are finally giving the big guns a game.
DeanoVilla
Great game and you had me absoloutley *****eing it in the 2nd half, but just to clarify, the Adebayor tackle was similar but, and it is a big but, his was in your half of the field, Carew's on Hleb was just outside the area. Not denying a goal scoring chance but when Hleb is there it seems as if its almost just to stop him before he can get into the box. Also, we may over react a little when it comes to tackles such as that on Hleb because he gets it all the time. That is the fourth horrible and intentionally painful challenge Hleb has had against him in 12 starts, it is amazing he still has both legs. Anyways, that was the only negative in a great footballing contest and I wish you well for the rest of the season, except for when we meet at the Grove. Hope you and Pompey can take the European spots so some proper footballing sides can get them instead of Blackburn and Mikel Arteta and Tim Cahill plus those nine other blokes who wear Blue, I forget what there called.

I wasn't watching it on Setanta, i was there. Arsenals players did surround the ref all the while. Trying to get Carew sent off. Appealing against our free kicks. That was the one thing that annoyed me yesterday. Other than that we were very unlucky to lose the game so im quite optimistic. UTV

Very good crowd, great volume of support, great atmosphere. Hopefully to be repeated against Portsmouth next Saturday.

No way I would say Carew deliberately went out to get Hleb injured and taken out the game. He hasn't even played for Liverpool so how dare they suggest such a thing. It was clumsy at worst, a typical forward's challenge really. Booking, yes. Sending off, no. It's a shame the Arsenal players surrounded the ref - not all the time, but twice at least. A cracking game let's not get distracted by the very few negative things from yesterday and concentrate on the outstanding first half performance by Arsenal and the outstanding second half performance by us. A draw would probably have been a fair result, but when has football ever been totally fair?
godzvilla
Maybe next season, eh? At least we didn't roll over, at least we gave them a game. We'll just have to give them a stuffing at The Emirates.
