A truly truly disgraceful performance,us true Villa fans are being *****ed,I have been one of MoN biggest supporters but he didnt do alot to distance himself from the England job therefore making the 5 year plan and the last year pretty meaningless.I think that has disrupted some of the players (Laursen) it was not the refs fault, when we conceeded the equaliser we had 28% possesion! Barry is welcome to join a better team on the basis of tonights performance. We deserve a tremendous response against Bolton next week,if O Leary had of been in charge for that display I would want him sacked,I no longer see MoN as our saviour but as someone who would turn his back on us given the right oppertunity.Carson a great keeper? he conceeds more than he saves, bring back Tommy,Moore has had his chance now aswell and send Maloney back to Scotland. We need players and managers that are totally committed to the Villa.

And Barry is supposed to be better than Lampard....? Meh.

Your right, Barry is a better choice for England. Lucky for Lampard he does have a fair few talented players around him. Bazza had a rare off day by what it sounds today.

Pking it's a case of the have's & have nots. Top 4 have the choice of players and all the cash. Champions League or nothing

I was a bit emotional with my first post but this game sort of meant nothing because if Russia win against Israel our manager could be off,Ive been dreading that possibility. And after enduring what Ive just seen I need to ask why?The gap betweenn us and Man U is huge but our performance was comical.

MONNY will never manage England, so at least that's one less thing to worry about.

Young looks our best player Knight has to be replaced with Davies after that.

Pking, I really think you need to get a grip mate. First, you should by now realise that it is only paper talk that MON will be off to manage England. If suggestions by a couple of daily rags are all it takes to 'disrupt' some of our players, then I suggest we get rid of them as quickly as possible because they surely won't be up to life in the Prem. Secondly, why on earth should MON issue a press statement every time he is linked with another job? I'd much rather he spent his time more wisely than (over) reacting to everything written by our wonderful press hacks on a rainy afternoon.

MON never shrugs off any job he is linked with. He done the same at Celtic, its just his manner. Villa well and turley beaten today. Cant say its his fault but.

Pking, Moore is getting his chance and doing ok but needs a goal. It will come, but I fear that Moore and Gardner (as against Spurs) are always first in line to be subbed. If MON leaves Moore out just because he has not yet delivered - when Petrov gets a whole season I will be dischuffed to say the least. Barry's peformance was poor - I hope a one off and he deserves all our support and confidence. Maloney always looks good to me and deserves much more of a chance. The reason we lost today was because Man Utd are better, and if we were to beat them we needed to hit them on the break and defend really well. We did the first early on and who knows what might have happened if we had also defended much much better than that - with Zak Knight the main culprit. MON was quoted when he bought him saying he had a reputation for going to sleep sometimes. The Fulham fans say he went to sleep every match! Laurrrson/ melberg in the middle and we must try Davis at right back. Once 3-1 down we had little chance but Rio Coker once on a yellow is a red waiting to happen and he should have been subbed - and that is not hindsight it is what I said as soon as the subs were lining up. Certain players play that way and Rooney on a yellow, Gazza of old on a yellow are not worth the risk. R-C is the same. MON has done much to get the best out of the players he was left, but only gets my vote for 1 good signing (Young) and 3 very bad Knight, Petrov and Harewood. Loans don't count - or if they did then only 1 good, 1 too early to say and one bad (Bardsley). One of his best signings (Maloney ) rarely is given a chance and that turns a plus into a minus. We need to bounce back against Bolton with a win and can do so but we need a rethink at the back and Barry to take control of the middle. Blackburn and Man City are the targets to catch and we mustn't let the gap get any bigger.

Todays defeat can be tracked back to August. United knew we do not the forwards to hurt them and could come forward at will without fearing the results. Camping in our last third there was no way we could defend that one goal lead. We did spend the Summer signing centre backs though and the net result there was a weak central defence today. Yes it is time to give Davies a game and Maloney too. But for now we just do not have the fire power to worry the top teams and will be on the back foot in games like this until we do. And no Carew would not have been the difference - United pay 20m a player and the quality they have is there for all to see. On the plus side, Osbourne showed some good signs when he came on but the rest of the players were not at the races. Barry was poor after his first two England games too - perhaps 2 games for his country in a few days is as much as he can do. No shame in that if that is the way it is.

Saw highlights earlier, and for half an hour we were great, and should have been two up, but Zat Knight was woeful, had his back to Rooney and nobody even saw him arrive for the first goal, Knight should have at least tackled him for the second and he failed to get his header in for the third when the ball came in from the corner. The red card for Carson is a joke cos there was a man back on the line. Some of Uniteds passing was stunning, though. Agree with you, stennyvilla, I hope we can bounce back, and that Maloney gets a fair go. Barry has had more good days than bad too. Keep the faith!

this was a strange one eh? we looked fantastic for a bit, and gabbys goal was the best of the day. thing with utd and their goals is all of them were gifted. ball watching just does not work, and i reckon all 4 could have been shut down pretty easily. no doubt utd were better, but we certainly did not help ourselves one bit at the back. davies reckons he played like a pub player, on yesterdays defensive job, he fit in well! agree with stennyvilla though, play him on the right, laursen/mellberg in the middle.

The dissappointing thing is..... I'm not dissappointed! Typical of the Villa. Cant see Blackburn or Portsmouth capitulating like this. MON has had 2 transfer windows now and apart from Young what has he contributed? I know we should be better in a years time but that does depend on who MON buys and to date..... not impressed.

Calm down Pking, get a grip. You need to take a breath and count to ten before you post. We got a spanking, no doubt about it. Boys against men. Its still very much a case of 'work in motion', same as it was five minutes before kick off. Next time we get beaten, collect your thoughts before you let loose. Then you'll make one front page posting as opposed to three or four knee jerk reactions.
