surprised at the possession stat, the Premium TV (official site) one said even less possession to us 41 - 59 Still, only one stat counts, 1-0. Think we deserved it on our first half performance, second half it was all a bit more scrappy but then we also should have had a penalty when Young was bundled off the ball and apparently the hand ball was a dead cert pen, couldn't really tell from where I was sitting?
The Fear
Not too sure about the hand ball Fear - could have been given easily, but I wouldn't say 100%. That'll do though....nice to see us 5th in the table for a while at least!
YatesyVillain
I think we got off the hook today we went at least half an hour without having any kind of attack on their goal, had they equalised right at the end with that great chance we'd be going mad right now.We have to stop sitting back so much,Man U will crush us if we play like that.Laursen was quite unbelievable again today and Ashley owned the left wing. Were 5th,not playing great and have some players that are really looking promising, cant complain (too much)

Where did that referee come from? Thought he was awful. Bowyer spent all afternoon trying to get okey cokey sent off and was fairly successful. Surely managers should tell their players to play the game for the amount of cash they are paid. Bowyer hasn't got the mentality to deserve his position. Why Barry man of the match? Lausen surely. Finally that possession stat was probably right, the second half saw them with so much of the ball, thnk goodness carthorse Cole was upfront for them - and Ashton looked far from fit even before he was injured.
Gordonsleftboot
They may have had possession but I don't think they had territorial advantage. I don't mind any team having 90% possession as long as they're playing in their own half, and we use our 10% to win the game ... :o)
BobTheBuilder
We had the possession in the first half, they did in the second. we got behind their defence on numerous occassions, but could not make final ball count. They never got behind us, BUT we did sit too deep AGAIN in the 2nd half and invited them on to us. Thought Luke had his best game for a while until he tired, but Martin Laursen was better than awesome. Is there a better centre half in the Premiership? We still have a long way to go, but we are definitely getting there! One sour note, those MORONS (and that is being kind to them) who booed Petrov when he came on were totally out of order. NO EXCUSE to behave like that. **** off to St Andrews, if all you can do is have vendetta's against OUR players. Petrov isn't playing well or with any confidence, do you really THINK that behaviour is going to help? Silly question, the people in question haven't got the intelligence to THINK. By all means be critical of a players performance after the match, but to boo someone before he has touched the ball?
krfeskivilla
Im not a big fan of Petrov but if people were booing him thats disgracefull
Pking
MOTD showed the free kick for our goal shouldnt have been given and West Ham should have had a penalty....but we should have had 3 penalties!!! Ref had a shocker!!
Rickymeister
Well in this game I think we played ok, but did we deserve the win? I don't really care - i'll take it anyway. My only point is that we are due a bit of luck after recent results and capitulations, so maybe this helps make up a bit for points dropped against Newcastle, Man City and Tottenham....
YatesyVillain
Just been flicking through my dictionary and under the definition of incompetence it said Steve Tanner.

I think the three points was vital, regardless of how it came. The problem i still have is that we're not a 90 minute team..... Looking at Spurs and West Ham, we seemed to have one half wonders. And i really dont like the desperate long ball strategy we employ in the second half of our games. But back to my opening line....threee points is what we needed..and had we had that win at spurs, we'd have been third. Onwards and upwards
reza
btw...any chance of Gabby coming into the england squad should injuries force some players to withdraw? I hope Young starts.....he has got to!
reza
Petrov was booed a little bit and i do agree it's a disgrace on to the game it's self laursen man of the match moore was poor we didnt play well missing Carew a bit i think and to much long balls being played giving them the ball very cheaply.
chris the villan
Not heard anything off Shoehammer, theres a surprise!!!
silkie villain
great result for you lot west ham aren't doing that badly o'neill has made a big difference since he came to yours top 7 is in your reach this season
muffdaddy1983
Yeah, put the ? about the handball Yatesy as I'd not seen it on replay, having seen it on MOTD, it should have been given according to Shearer it as gilt edged pen! The one where Young was brought down could have been given but then again, it did start outside the box! Think they shoudl have had one as well as Zat pulled down Cole!
The Fear
When Petrov was stripped and ready to come on, someone behind me (remember I sit by the bench) was screaming 'NO MARTIN, don't bring him on' How does that help the player? I am not convinced he'll settle as he has had a long time and isn't doing the business but when he or anyone else for that matter is in the shirt they HAVE to have our support surely?
The Fear
Pleased with the result yesterday, played quite well first half but were poor second half. However, that was the type of game we would have drawn yesterday so have to happy. Couple of moans though. Can't believe Barry got MOM thought he did ok but Laursen was immense again the guy wins everything in the air and reads the game so well. Head and shoulders above everyone else so far this season. Secondly the atmosphere from our own fans was terrible. The Hammers fans were singing virtually the whole game but hardly anything from the Holte. Very poor guys need to get it back to the levels of the Chelsea game.
notthedougellisstand
The thing about penalties they do tend to level themselves out at the end of the season. The Gerrard Goal from a non freekick was yesterday off set by the Gardener freekick which looked like Moore slipped trying to get back into the action. Unless your Manyoo or Chelsea they level out at the end of the season.
col8
another poor performance and another 3 points, long may it continue, especially when you consider who the next 5 games are against.
avfc48
ok avfc48 just give me one manager thats going to take us more forward, because personally you are relly *****ing me off!
silkie villain
I had enough excitement at White Hart Lane on Monday evening to last me two or three weeks, so the 1-0 victory was just what the doctor ordered, thank you very much. Three points, a comfortable enough victory, but some stiff tests coming up on the horizon. We didn't play particularly well, but we won. That'll do for me. Bring on Manchester United. Lets hope we can actually give them a game this time around.
glensider
Where's our friend SHOE HAMMER? No doubt eating humble pie right now. Plenty to say in the weeks leading up to the game, seems as if he's in hiding right now.
glensider
Another very impressive attendance. Good to see the punters slowly returning.
