We are being an "unlucky team" at the moment and its depressing. Unfortunately results mean everything. We really have struggled against the very poor teams. I believe we need a result against one of the top six (or four) to give us some confidence
tarzan
At least we had shots on target tonight but............ I gotta go, really fed up.
Gazvilla
Me too. Need to get behind the lads from now until the end of the season
tarzan
I need a big hug
Christo
Christo, you threatened to kiss us all as well. You OK mate????
Gazvilla
Hey, they had 4 shots and scored 3 goals. From the stats it looks like we dominated but the new players need time to gel. I know it's wins that count but would you rather we played dreadfully and won? If so, what kind of future does that point to. Playing well and having that many shots on target will eventually pay dividends. I just hope we don't have to wait too long.
Villain Of The North
That should be "shots on target"
Villain Of The North
very unlucky tonight, once again failed to take our chances but gave ourselves a mountain to climb within the first 10 mins. plus points CAREW awesome, our goal threat went once he went off. good debut goal for Young will do his confidence a world of good. Hope for better luck against the hammers on saturday.
deemz
Gutted.
Dudley_Villa
Unlucky Villa, you dominated against Newcastle just like Spurs did against them, but what Newcastle done aginst Spurs and Villa was take their chances, 4 shots on target and 3 goals is a brilliant strike rate for anyone. One high for Villa was the performance of Carew and a debut goal for Young, well done.

We were playing a very poor team defensively tonight, most teams create chances against NUFC,we concede goals ourselves far too easily and i`m concerned with only having 29 points.

ok OAL whats going on?is there a truce on now?Im not having a go what is it like to be dissappointed every derby game.Yous remind me of Villa v Birmingham.Until we won.
Pking
can someone please explain the disallowed carow goal!
eltoro
lol apart from a few things I am fine
Christo
We can't expect miracles overnight. Carews goal was good. Even Alan Shearer said so. Can't explain why it wasn't given. Things will take time. Just hang in there everyone. VOTN is right.
CLVilla
Carew's goal was spot on - the replay shows Sibierski tugging his shirt. Absolutely gutted as we were desperately unlucky not to have got even a point out of this. Gav McCann looked a shade of his normal self - he allowed Milner to breeze past him for the first goal and was sloppy with his distribution. Any takers on MON playing Mellberg/Ridgewell at the back with Cahill in the midfield holding position?
Equatorialvilla
I'd like a new goal keeper in the summer - we need points - at least 11 me thinks
myleftfoot
*****ed off. We just cannot win. And the teams we beat at the start of the season are beating us. *****ed off.
AussieVilla
9 shots on target and 54% of the ball, have Villa had so many shots on target in any other game this season?
col8
I thought that was 'so much better' it was fantastic. So we lost playing like that we aint gonna be out of the running in many games. The 2 new signing were class, what we have missed. Baros and Angel should watch this and cringe as I think Carew and Young had more chances and looked far better players than they have for many years. What a difference a team trying makes to your outlook ;-)
spit-fire
Gutted. We outplayed them for 80 minutes and have come away empty handed! On the plus side Carew and Young we absolutely fantastic!
DeanoVilla
Bar the first 15 - excellent performance. Let's hope we do it against the Hammers now.
koolbill
Well, I was mega peed off after the game, but on reflection i think we actually performed well. We need to be winning these games though
edgley_1957
Obviously not our night, especially going 2 goals down in 10 minutes. Our defece is still frail withourt Laursen. Cahill, in my oipinion is a great prospect but we must remember he's probably not had many more than 12 starts for us. So we definitely need another top class central defenders if we're going to effectively compete in Europe nexrt season. But with Chelsea offering Terry a 10year 100mill contract! - that's neither going to be cheap or easy for MON and Randy. Having watched the film of the game, Carew's goal should have been allowed, which would almosr certainly have earned us 1, if not 3 points. The 3rd eye must surely be brought in soon!
villacross
Equatorialvilla - I must admit I'm a McCann fan. In my opinion we always miss him when he's out. However, he's only human and therefore will make mistakes, but don't you think the central cover at the back was lacking? or do you put Milner's goal (which the Geordies are still raving about incidently) down to Gav? I also think, if we had another midfielder as robust as Gav, MON would rest his occasionally either during or between "big" games.
villacross
One of our best away performances of the season without a doubt. Looked dangerous going forward, Carew and Young forming a very promising looking strike-force. At the end of the day though we still got beat, so that has to be addressed. On another day that performance would have earned us at least a point, and there were very definitely several plus points to take away from the game. Beating West Ham is now a must.

How on earth did we loose this game 3-1? I saw the game and watched highlights on MOTD and Skys Football First and I still cannot get mny head round it. The Stats above say it all. For 80 mins we had them against the ropes. Carew's goal should have stood or we should have received a penalty for a foul on Carew. Carew cetainly did NOT commit a foul. If you watch it again I believe it shouldn't have been a corner in the first place. The ball hit the cross bar and wasn't head over by the defender as the refs decision suggested. I think the ref knew he'd made a mistake and decided to rectify his error by blowing for a foul - he blew his whistle before Carew made contact with the ball. Anyway... Despite the result I was really impressed by the 2 new boys. A right "Little n Large" duo. Their link up play, considering they'd had 3 days to train together was superb. Deemz is 100% spot on when he said our goal threat diminished dramatically when he Carew was subbed. Considering it was Carews first first team game since early December I thought he did brilliantly - What about that shot he had when the ball dropped over his left shoulder?!?!?!? Bring on the Hammers. 4-0 The Villa.
Adam Deuce
I'm not sure why we always have to play c**p the first ten minutes of every game. It's like our Achilles' heel that first ten!
505anthony
Is this where I come to gloat then? :-) Having said that, we were rather lucky to beat you last night... I think you should do well the rest of the season.
unbelievable_jeff
