great result when you think about the difference in squads, but I'll never get used to players not at least having a pop at goal every now and then, 0 shots in 90mins does seem to defeat the purpose of the game?!!

Well if we dont have a striker of worth or the ability to open up a defence its no surprise, but things will change. We knew things were bad the only way is fwd for Villa.

Agreed Fear - would be nice to have a few pot shots at goal, I thought McCann shaped to shoot a couple of times but passed instead, still until Baros came on, I didnt think Angel looked interested.

Defence was brilliant (except for the early Drogba effort) apart from our keeper that is. McCann was superb, Petrov affected by Angels inability to lay the ball off and the ineffectiveness of Gabby. Gardner and Davis are kids who are out of their depth. Beef up the midfield and supply the front and who knows Baros may bang a few in. Encouraging but MON needs to get some reinforcements, quick. Moore and Sorenson back soon will also help. UTV

hard earned point, all we need is a couple of quality players to turn the hard work into goals. Thought Bouma was quality, leave him at left back and put Barry left midfield.

Bouma had a good game, he really looked the part tonight. Under the circumstances a point was probably the best we could hope for. Battled throughout, no complaints there, but no pace or width up front. Baros looked lively when he came on, he seemed to up the tempo a bit. Three consecutive home games without a goal now. Not difficult to see where the main problem lies.

It wasd just nice to stop the rot, and a good positive result for those who expected a thrashing, I put us down for a convincing win, but ah well such is life. : )
