Vital Villa Interviews 2014 - JW85

Vital Villa Interviews 2014 - JW85
JW85 is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Every member of my family on both sides is a Villa fan, there's a picture of me in the Holte End as a baby with a Villa outfit on so I was doomed from the start really.

2) What is your favourite Villa moment of all time/most treasured memory?

Savo smashing the 1st goal in the 96 League Cup Final, a stunning 30 yard strike. I remember screaming so much I lost my voice for the remainder of the game.

3) If you could bring back a former Villa player into this team (at his peak) who would it be and why?

This team has many problems but our lack of any kind of creativity is the biggest one in my opinion so Paul Merson would be my choice.

4) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

The worst manager I've seen at the villa. What money he has had he's squandered, he falls out with players randomly and after getting us playing some nice football at the end of his 1st season decided to go the complete opposite way and play a dull long ball game despite it not suiting the team he has built. He needs to go as soon as possible.

5) Best and worst moments of last season?

Best- Andi's goal at home to Man City, they should have pummelled us but somehow we pulled off a shock result. The stupid route one nature of the goal complete with a stupid error from Joe Hart simply made it more hilarious.

Worst-Being totally outplayed by stoke at home, a 4-1 humiliation.

6) Your opinion of Randy Lerner now he has put us up for sale?

I think that he really did give it a go when he 1st came to us but his interest had obviously gone in recent years. My opinion of him will ultimately be shaped by who he sells us to but at the moment I don't dislike him, more annoyed at him for not appointing someone with football experience as a director of football or some other position on the board.

7) What sort of new owner would you like, what do you expect from them?

Someone like the guys at Liverpool who have a long term plan. I think that with 20-30 million a year spent by a good manager backed by a good scouting system and our own youth teamers properly integrated into the 1st team set up we can easily get into the top 6 and challenge for the cups.

8) Transfers are obviously up in the air as we are for sale, but any ideas of who (probably with the current regime) like to see us grab?

As we aren't going to be spending much if any money this season I think we will need to use the loan system wisely. Not very inspiring I know but desperate times and all that. I would like us to try and get Lucas Piazon from Chelsea, he's had a couple of loans to European teams and Chelsea may be looking to get him some Premier League experience. He's a skillful winger/striker, takes a good set piece and has that bit of flair and imagination this team so badly lacks.

9) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

El Hamadi, Bent, Hutton, N'Zobia, Given, Sylla, and Bennett.

10) Favourite and least favourite current player? (Explanation if you wish)

Favourite- Benteke, he's the best striker I've seen play for us and we are utterly bereft of any attacking threat without him.

Least Favourite- Hutton, not played for us in a while but he is a detestable character and a useless player.

11) Who was your first footballing hero and who are your favourite all time player/s?

Jurgen Klinnsman was my 1st footballing hero, I wanted to be him so badly. Favorite Villa player would probably be Gareth Barry, completely underrated by everyone except the fans of the clubs he's played for.

12) What do you expect us to do/finish this season if not sold... impossible to speculate if sold at the moment!?

Premier: Relegation, Lambert will get the job done this year after being thwarted by the incompetence of others.
FA Cup: Knocked out in the 3rd round, probably in some humiliating fashion.
Capital One: See above.

13) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Question- Why do you do this to yourself?

Answer- Because Its in the blood, and I'm an idiot.
