Vital Villa Interviews 2013 - Swayze1990

Vital Villa Interviews 2013 - Swayze1990
Swayze1990 is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Five years old, at school everyone was either a bluenose or a villan and my best mates were all villans… Happy days.

2) What is your favourite Villa moment of all time/most treasured memory?

Villa 5 - 1 Blues in 2008!! Fantastic match and revenge for the first few years they were in the Prem.

3) If you could bring back a former Villa player into this team (at his peak) who would it be and why?

Martin Laursen. An absolute colossus at the back, just a pity we only saw him for a few seasons due to injury. Passion and power… inspirational captain.

4) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

Halfway through the season when he continued to use 5 at the back even though we were being hammered every game I started to get restless with Lambert. He won me over in the second half of the season with some attractive football being played in the 4-3-3 formation. He looks to be good at unearthing gems in the transfer market too… let`s hope his signings this season come good too.

5) Best and worst moments of last season?

Worst by far was period of time where we were drubbed by Chelsea, Tottenham and Wigan in quick succession. These 3 results (especially the Wigan loss) maximised the fear that we might not survive.

6) Some say last season was a success, others not so much. What is your opinion?

I think Lambert always knew the first season of his system of blooding the youth was going to be tough. But I`m not sure he expected it to be as much of a struggle as it turned out to be. Survival and experience, however, will make last season a success in the long run. Pivotal season.

7) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board?

Lerner has consistently put around £20 million into the club in just transfer fees every season. Put the wages and everything else on top of that and I don`t think you can fault his commitment to the team. A few dodgy managerial appointments though…

8) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

I think I can safely say that I most probably won`t have heard of any of the players Lambert signs this summer, but give me a reasonable budget and I would go for a creative attacking midfielder (maybe Belhanda if we can cough up the dough or maybe Tonev can already fit that profile) and a left back (how about a cheeky bid to Buttner from Man U now that Moyes might go for Baines)

9) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Bent (lazy), Holman (a lot of energy but not enough quality), Ireland (lazy) and Bannan (if I have to see another of his floated diagonal balls towards the corner flag I`ll go mad!!).

10) Favourite current player?

3 way split: Benteke because I`ve never seen a player like him at the Villa, Guzan because he`s an absolute beast between the sticks and Gabby because he`s Villa through and through and would run through a brick wall for the club… every side should have a fan in their first team.

11) Who was your first footballing hero and who are your favourite all time player/s?

Martin Laursen, for his unbridled passion for the game. I can still remember him running the length of the pitch to celebrate after both his first goal for the club and also after Young scored the winner against Everton in the 08-09 season.

12) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier: Top 10
FA Cup: Quarters
Carling: Semis

13) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Q. From your lifetime, what would be your ultimate Villa XI?
A. Freidel; Lowton, Laursen, Melberg, Staunton; Solano, Merson, Taylor, Young; Benteke, Yorke

(A bit too young to remember the days of Mcgrath unfortunately L)

14) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? Mila Kunis (for obvious reasons), Louis C.K. (absolutely hilarious) and Will Smith (an absolute legend and successful at whatever he tries his hand at!!)
b) Age 22
c) Location: Solihull
d) Favourite alcoholic drink: Morgan spiced rum
e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Fanta
f) Favourite Film/s: Man on Fire, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Layer Cake, Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction
g) Favourite TV Show/s: Mock the Week, Have I got News for You, The Apprentice, Scrubs, Two and a Half Men
h) Music?: Anything from rock to dance music, the whole range!
i) Best ever moment in your life: Winning the British formation Latin Dance Championships in 2007
j) Ambitions: To own a successful gym {good weight training thread here if you are interested: Click Here JF}
k) Wise words: Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.
