Vital Villa Interviews 2012: HoltenderMatt

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: HoltenderMatt
HoltenderMatt is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

From birth, my dad is, my Granddad is. He worked on the steam and used to take a Saturday shopping trip up to Brum from Hereford, found himself watching the Villa while he was kicking his heels on a Saturday afternoon.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

Not excited, yet, but not against the appointment either. He needs some time and a bit of space to create his vision for our club. I will judge him on our performances, nothing else.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Best moment HAS to be the sacking of the manager.

Worst, the appointment of same?? Although we had some shocking performances on the pitch to go along with it too.

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

Lerner is trying to show his commitment to Villa. He isn't throwing millions in to make our club unsustainable. He has invested, and I believe he will again, Our club needs to run itself though, how would we feel if we spent so much we were worthless, costing too much to run?

Lerner = Sensible

Yes, a good season will help, we have had bad years before, but always got over them. 2010/11 will be another of those years, whether it is this year or in two or three, it will be forgotten.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

Well, sounds like we will need some defence, King Carlos going is a huge blow to the squad. People say we need to ship Dunne and Collins out, although I'm not sure. We do need cover across the back though.

Can we buy a RB that plays RB? No more Young playing left and right, Carlos playing out of position, even Mellberg played out of position there.

Up front too, we need another striker. Nathan isn't up to Prem standard and Gabby is lacking goals. Bent needs help/cover. Hopefully our new players will work out.

Oh and can he have Makoun back please???

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Gabby, Nathan D, Delph, Zog and if he isn't committed to the club then Warnock too.

7) Favourite current player?

Albrighton

8) Favourite all time player/s?

Morley and Shaw

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with 25m or so spent?

Premier 8th
FA Cup: Last 8
Carling: Last 4

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

How long will you be a Villan?
'Till I die

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:

b) Age 40(sshhh)

Top interview, pragmatic as well. Hopefully the manager will be judged favourably, goodness knows we all need a bit of joy in our Villa world now!
