Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Etouffee

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Etouffee
Etouffee is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I had always been a fan of football but had never really had a team. Loved watching the World Cup and had just got done watching the summer before Randy bought the club. I am originally from Ohio so when I read the owner of the Cleveland Browns might be purchasing a team I had to check the team out. Once I read about the history of Villa I was hooked, hadn't even seen a game at that point. The rest is History.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

I think it's a good hire and I believe that he will be much better at creating a system around the players he has instead of trying to fit the players he has into a system that does not fit them.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

The best moments were the start of every match as we were still potentially winners! The worst was any match we lost or drew which as you know was most. Just want to forget most of it to be honest.

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

I think it can even though the last 2 years have really been a comedy of errors all it will take is a quick start this season and most fans will be singing praises again.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

I would like to just sit back and see how Lambert plays his hand over the summer. I look forward to seeing players that I don't know much about at the start of the campaign become Villa heroes by the end!

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Well most of who I would like to see gone are. I would really like to see Hutton exit out of who is left, but over all not crazy about any of the main starting 4 on the back line at the moment.

7) Favourite current player?

I am a big fan of the young guys coming up and hope they all do well but I would have to say right now its Eric Lichaj. I do like the fact that he is a US born player but I also like the fact that 2 years ago many said he wasn't good enough for the first team and I think this past year he proved that he has the potential to make it. I would like to see that continue and I am rooting for him to do so.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

I can only go by players that have played while I have been a fan and only one stands head and shoulders above the rest. That would be Martin Laursen! He truly made a difference when he was on the pitch and intimidated many opposing players with his 100% commitment to his job!

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with 25m or so spent?

Premier Top 8
FA Cup: Semi's at least
Carling: Semi's at least

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

This has to be one of the strangest questions ever! Really don't have anything :(

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? Neil Peart, Drummer for the band Rush. Because he is my favorite drummer!

b) Age 45

c) Location: New Iberia, Louisiana - about 2 miles from the Tabasco Factory.

d) Favourite alcoholic drink: When I drink it's Crown Royal and Coke

e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Coffee

f) Favourite Film/s: Office Space

g) Favourite TV Show/s: Currently would be Suits

h) Music?: Rock/metal

i) Best ever moment in your life: When my daughter was born

j) Ambitions: Getting a College Degree

k) Wise words: Don't piss into the wind!

One of my favourite memories last year was of young Lichaj when he smashed the Bolton player off the park with a good old fashioned tackle and trotted off like it was just another average challenge, brilliant!!!

I too think Lichaj has the ability to be a really top RB.... he showed enough last season. With a good manager in situ now, he can only get better. Good interview Etouffee!

If your a Browns man you will find Villa's last decade very much in keeping with their record.
