Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Beejay

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Beejay
Beejay is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Whole family of Villa Fans - Dad came over from Ireland in early 50's, followed the Villa, home & away (in those days!) and passed it onto myself and 3 brothers (now including sons/daughters/nieces/nephews/grandkids)......so I was a Villa fan from mid sixties, first games we lost 4-2 to Everton & Small Heath at Villa Park!!

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

I personally wanted Ian Holloway!!.....however the list was pretty long and providing we didn't go with another of Fergies cast offs (i.e. Ince/Bruce/Robson), I'm pretty happy with Paul Lambert.......young/dynamic, he's had an impact amongst the fans already which is good thing after last couple of season. Seems to be a real feel good factor around the place at the moment.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

A) Chelsea Away

B) Too many to mention to be honest - teams will always lose games, it was the manner/tactics used to lose the games that p****d us all off

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

I thought when he took over it was breath of fresh air. There's a lot of good been undone with the Houllier/McLeish appointments. Appointing Lambert goes so way to healing those wounds. Interesting to see if PL really does have a war chest of 20-25mill.......

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

Personally, I'd look at the Dutch/Belgium market.......technically good players, cheaper than most.
Try & resign Cuellar if possible
Other than that the Championship or Rangers.......Papac at Rangers would be a good replacement for Warnock, I'd also take a punt on McGregor (if SG is being replaced as number One).......Jordan Rhodes as striker back-up/Snodgrass at Leeds
One marquee signing: Shawcross at Stoke - build from the back! 12-15mill it would cost....Stoke don't have/want to sell

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Delfonso/Bannan/Hutton/Warnock/Collins/Albrighton......I think Ireland will be sold.....cant see him fitting in with Lamberts thinking

7) Favourite current player?

Darren Bent or Shay Given

8) Favourite all time player/s?

God
Brian Little
Alex Cropley
Denis Mortimer
Paul Merson

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with 25m or so spent?

Premier Top 8
FA Cup: Winners
Carling: Winners

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

What really happened between MON and Randy/Board?

MON couldn't/wouldn't get his head around the 'sell to buy policy.....fell out with CEO, called Villa's bluff and ended up quitting

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? None

b) Age 53

c) Location: Erdingon, Birmingham

d) Favourite alcoholic drink: Jack Daniels

e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Oasis

f) Favourite Film/s: Shawshank Redemption

g) Favourite TV Show/s: Silk/Shameless/Hawaii 5 O!!

h) Music?: Rock/punk

i) Best ever moment in your life: birth of my son vey very closely followed by Rotterdam 82

j) Ambitions: To see Villa win the FA Cup

k) Wise words: Randy, you reap what you sow!!

Shawshank has come up a lot as favourite film, it is a classic for sure!

Holloway would have been interesting but I think a bit too hard to control! LOL Cheers, great interview.

Visionary. Get players from the Dutch league. El Khamadi on the way. Mcgregor just refused his newco contract??? Like the comments on teams winning and losing games, but the manner of this is key. I think this is one we will have to get used to. I believe we will lose as many as we win this season. However draws will be far fewer. Winning three and then losing three, gets a better return than win two, draw two, lose two.
