Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Limonvilla

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Limonvilla
Limonvilla is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

My dad supported Villa and one of my earliest memories was watching the scores come in with him. My mum used to go to the ground and look after peoples cars when she was a kid. With this background and living in Hereford I had an easy choice! I went to my first game aged about 8 and saw Villa beat Middlesbrough 3:0 which helped.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

After a shocking year and two weird choices I was really excited by OGS although he was a gamble. To be honest I know very little about PL but from what I have read and heard I think it is a brilliant appointment. Mates at work are Liverpool & Spurs fans, neither wanted/want Martinez anywhere near their club and the Liverpool fan is not overjoyed with Rodgers to say the least. I think we could have made the best signing of the summer.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Best - I honestly didn`t enjoy any of last season. I was not against McLeish at all but there was never any light at the end of the tunnel.
Worst - After beating Chelsea I thought we would go on so to lose to Swansea at home (I think it was the next game) really struck home with me that we were a relegation team.

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

Really difficult question - Up until MON left 100% behind Lerner. Houllier was not Lerner`s fault but I cannot understand the McLeish decision. The only explanation is that Lerner took advise from the wrong experts, and there are pundits who still say McLeish is a great manager! He must have some serious dirt on some people, not least Ferguson!

I am also angry with the decision to bring the wage bill down in one summer especially after being forced to get a new manager - this was a really poor business decision that almost cost millions.

On the other side Lerner stood by his manager as long as was needed - he could have done as Wolves did. In hindsight he should have sacked him as the run in was so so poor but that`s easy to say now. Also, to be fair he did provide McLeish with money in the summer so who is to blame, Lerner for not giving enough money following cost cutting or McLeish getting enough money but spending it poorly?

If he backs PL and communicates more he can turn it around.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

A spine - Central Defender, Central Holding Midfielder and a playmaker. All of them with claret and blue blood.

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

No one unless they want out - I trust that PL will play players who deserve the jersey and if anyone doesn`t improve from last year they will be out.

7) Favourite current player?

Petrov - the only player with the exception of Given who can hold their head up when talking of last season

8) Favourite all time player/s?

Ehiogu, Yorke, Taylor, Laursen, Mellberg, Alpay (before he went bad) and Saunders

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with 25m or so spent?

Premier - Top 8
FA Cup: - Last 16
Carling: - Last 4 or win at a push

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Would you prefer our history and be where we are now or scrub the history and have Sheikh Mansour as an owner?
Every time our history and belief we can get back up the league!

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why?

Not interested in any Celebs. I would like to meet Lerner for a chat about last summer. Or drinks with the Mock the Week bunch, that would be fun.

b) Age 40

c) Location: Northamptonshire

d) Favourite alcoholic drink: Lager or quite into Crabbie`s at the moment

e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Tea or coke

f) Favourite Film/s: Usually the last film I saw as I forget after 10 minutes - saw Snow White and the Huntsman which was good last

g) Favourite TV Show/s: Live at the Apollo, Mock the week, The Wire

h) Music?: Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Athlete, Foo Fighters, Muse......

i) Best ever moment in your life: Not the birth but having 2 boys

j) Ambitions: Successful & Happy

k) Wise words: Don`t take advise from Ferguson ;-)
