Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Nimmo

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Nimmo
Nimmo is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Grew up in a Villa family and can't remember not being a Villa fan.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

Very pleased with his appointment. He was my number 1 choice. I have a lot of faith that he will slowly but surely sort out our problems. There will probably be some ups and downs during the transition, but I have every confidence that he will get us into a much better state.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Best moments were Chelsea away and when McLeish was 100% confirmed as being sacked.
Worst moments were the times I spent at home when I should have been at Villa Park and ended up feeling glad not to be there after watching the game on t'internet

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

Randy made a massive and totally avoidable mistake when he appointed McLeish. He rectified his mistake. He sacked him at the earliest realistic moment and has gone out and got the fans' number one choice. He now needs to back Lambert by trusting him to get the club back in shape. I don't mean financial backing, although we will nee to spend a bit of cash, I mean that he needs the right organisation around the manager that is geared up to help him succeed.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

Difficult to say, because Lambert needs to get to work with the players to see who steps up and who needs to ship out. Then we have to replace the players that leave with players that want to be at Villa and see it as a privilege to be part of a great club.....and of course, put the work in accordingly.

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

See 5 - I reckon some 'dead wood' might just surprise us and some that we think will do well might want out when Lambert forces them out of their comfort zones. All-in-all I trust PL to evaluate each player and to decide who comes and goes.

7) Favourite current player?

I like anyone that goes out in a Villa shirt and gives 100%.
Petrov has been a great player for us. I like the look of Carruthers and Weimann.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

Tony Morley - I was just at the right age (9) to enjoy his flair and approach.

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with 25m or so spent?

Premier: 8th
FA Cup: 5th round
Carling: 3rd round - tough draw ;)

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Q - Why are you asking yourself about Villa?
A - I don't know. Does that mean you're a bit mad.....
