Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Bob Moore

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Bob Moore
Bob Moore (Chairman: Somerset Lions) is next for the Vital Villa interview.

Somerset Lions details: www.avfclionsclubs.co.uk

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

When I was born in 1956, although Dad`s ultimatum "you either support the Villa or you don`t eat" might have helped along the way as well.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

Lucky man, we as Villa fans are/were at our lowest ebb, anything, and I do mean anything, he does positive will be a sign of good times ahead.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

The feeling of utter despair at Wigan away and the first serious mutterings that a revolution was needed, is the worst.

The best was 5 minutes from the end of the Bolton Home League game when the crowd well and truly turned. Remember hugging my daughter and saying out aloud "we`ve done it, we`ve won, he is history !! "

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

My opinion of Randy Lerner has gone down significantly since his arrival, the McLeish appointment went against all the claret and blue teachings I have been bought up on. Paul Faulkner deserves credit for the Genting and Macron deals but I cannot forgive him for even considering McLeish never mind rubber stamping it. The General I have no time for whatsoever, the PR stuff was great at first but when the kitchen got a little bit hot he disappeared as quick as those helicopters did from the roof at the American Embassy in Saigon all those years ago.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

Stumped on this one. Budgetary restraints and the spiralling transfer fees make it a strange market. I like the idea of lower division players who are "hungry" coming in and PL has shown in that respect he has a good eye in that department.

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

Again I will trust PL`s judgement on this one. He might just be the catalyst to get some of the under achievers doing the business.

7) Favourite current player?

Shay Given

8) Favourite all time player/s?

Ray Graydon, Chico Hamilton, Ian Taylor, Freddie Bouma

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with £25m or so spent?

Premier: above 10th hopefully

FA Cup: The Holy Grail….. Winners please !!!!

Carling: could be in for a good shout in this one.

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

You are 56 now Bob, where do you see the Villa in 4 years time on your 60th birthday?

Up there challenging amongst the elite in the League, approaching our 4th FA Cup Final in a row, (birthday is 19th April) having won it the previous 3 seasons. Like buses, you wait ages then 3 or 4

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
(based on our WHO ARE YOU thread!!!)

a) Which celebrity/s would you most like to meet and why? Male: Gareth Edwards, being of Welsh heritage my teenage years were spent with my late father enjoying the Golden age of Welsh Rugby in the seventies, although they are coming close to a second golden age at the moment, would just love to spend a few hours with him just listening to his stories of that time. Female: Jennifer Aniston nuff said !!!

b) Age 56

c) Location: Shepton Mallet , Somerset

d) Favourite alcoholic drink: Teetotal

e) Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Highland Spring Sparkling Mineral Water

f) Favourite Film/s: Where Eagles Dare and The Great Escape.

g) Favourite TV Show/s: Sky Sports News

h) Music?: Motown. Northern Soul.

i) Best ever moment in your life: Being reconciled with my daughter after 11 years apart. You were there Mr Fear, at the Bolton League Cup game last season on the same table in the Holte Suite.

j) Ambitions: Get fit enough to play in the Lions Club Chairman`s game next season

k) Wise words: Just love the signature of one guy on one of the forums; "Those that understand need no explanation, those that do, don`t matter" talking about his love and passion for all things claret and blue.

Great ambition Bob, the rate you are going you'll be playing in the first team to be fair!

Yes, remember the day well at the Holte mate, must have been very special to get back together after all that time in the place you love as well!

Oh and your dad, what a star, that was exactly the right way to get you into the claret and blue faith... No choice is there really?!?!

You either support the Villa or don't eat! PMSL I'm glad I never discussed a players performance with your old man, what a legend!

Unfair on the Gen though, you can only expect one person to take so much before biting back....and he unfairly took more than enough on the forums. What he achieved as a conduit is lost, because of the arguments.

Good read. My daughter was introduced to the Villa under the same orders. When she was little she had to go and stay at her grandmothers a couple of days a week (and she is a proper Small Heathen). One day she came home (she was about 4 at the time)and started singing Keep Right On!!!! I put her back in the car and drove round to my Mothers and told her if she ever does that again she will never see her grand child again. Deadly serious. Football is family. There are no choices. And having protested from Christmas onwards about the previous manager, we had exactly the same response on that Bolton night. It was an explosion of relief that we knew then he was a dead man walking.
