Be nice to see this as part of the home page. Laughed when I recalled Small Heath printing their annual diary and mistakingly printing our Club Honours instead of their own. Does anyone own one them or know if there are any still in circulation? It is a piece of Small Heath memorabilia I would like to have.

Peace Cup 2010. Our finest hour.

Are we still counting the stuff we won in the 19th century??? was that even a football they used back then??? Im probably gonna get slated for saying this, but, while many of you reading that will feel like we have achieved loads, and granted we have. I have a slightly different view and that is, we need to stop drivling on about the stuff we one a hundred years ago, and move on. Nobody cares that we were 2nd division runners up, or league cup runners up. 2nd place just means your the 1st loser. I cant stand celebrating 2nd place, and neither should anyone connected to Villa. Im having a bad day.....................

5 Enghlish clubs have wone the European cup? I know of Liverpool, MUTD, Forrest and Villa, who are the 5th?
villan of the north
You are having a bad day gibbo. You can not re write history. It can not be air brushed out (unless you are in the Labour Party) and it is something that defines what we are. So when the club gets to the 22nd century are you saying that we should then ignore the European Cup win and that should no longer be counted as part of our history? Shall we tear down the statue of William McGregor? Be proud that we were the driving force behind the modern game and be positive in your support to strive to take us back to the top again. UTV. Prepared. The 19th Minute.

Same as it happended to me votn lol. I can't recall the other English winner of the European Cup, my memory doesn't go back as far as May.
voiceoftheholte
VOTN - Chelsea? ;)

Did we not share the charity shield with Spurs in 81 or did they just not want their half!?
leyhill
Voice, I admire your outlook, but my friend if in another 100 years from now people are still banging on about our European cup win in 82 then all that means is we have achieved feck all again since. Ok, so we have won some stuff, but its been sooooooooo long since we won anything that its almost like me saying I won player of the season for Henley in Arden way back in 1990. Nobody really cares because its not relevant today. What we did 100 years ago has got nothing to do with what goes on at the modern day Villa. My bad day continues.......... I shall try and be more positive on my next post :) UTV

How did we qualify for the Charity Shield in 1972?
Villan Of The North
votn - not sure, but remeber standing on the Witton Bank as it was then as Francis Lee cheated us. Gibbo - without what William McGregor did over 100 years ago, modern football wouldn't be what it is today. And I am not sure any of us bang on about what happened 100 years ago, it is just there as part of our history and simply can't be written out just because you (nor any of us) were around for it. Embrace what went before because if it didn't happen you wouldn't be supporting us now. That said I have airbrushed last season from my records haha
voiceoftheholte
Lol @ voice.... Whatever happens in the future, im pretty confident that whoever looks back at our history will see a blank space for the season that was 2011/2012...... UTV

Gibbo, go sit down, have a cuppa, put a smile on your face! ;o) I agree, we want as bright a future as we have a past but it is still our history and it should be recognised!
The Fear
Blimey Gibbo, I know last season was horrible but come on, how can you not be proud of what our club stands for in the game and our achievements. Life existed before the Premiership and nay they Premiership would not have existed without Aston Villa.

Details are from the OS, I'm not old enough to know the specifics lads hence the request for emails for additions and the like folks. Folks out there know our history better than I will, a few of you were alive for some of these games lol
mike_field
Its like that is it boys???? getting double teamed by Mr Fear and Mr Field, you should be careful how you corner a lion, we tend to come back with an almighty roarrrrrr, which is exactly what we are going to do next season :) Come on the boyyyyysssssss. There you go, at last some positivity, I feel my bad day is finally coming to an end........... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
GibboVilla
Not to take this off topic, but trust me Mr Gibbo we have no intention of double teaming you PMSL One things for sure, next season should certainly be more entertaining than the last!

I'm with voth, Fear and MF with this one. Would love to have seen what Victorian footie was like. There are Blackpool, Huddersfield, Wolves and a few others who were once big way back when. Villa, Spurs, Everton and Arsenal have always been there or there abouts since the beginning (although only Arsenal have been consistently successful). English football didn't begin @ Italia 90 or in EPL season one. Who knows what the game will be like in a century? It'll probably still be played though. Tell a Glasgow Rangers fan that history isn't important. Tell a Citeh fan after Aguerro scored last month that that wasn't 'history'.
