Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Prepared

Vital Villa Interviews 2012: Prepared
Prepared is next for the Vital Villa interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I was born into it. I was born in Dudley Road hospital and lived on Brantley Road in Witton. I was born days after our greatest triumph and have a picture of my dad holding me inside the trophy, I used to put the full kit on when Villa was at home and kick a ball around in the street waiting for all the fans to walk past back to their cars parked on my road and ask the score. I could see the famous Holte End and the AV floodlights from my bedroom window too, so I used to love night games.

2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?

Paul Lambert was my number one choice from about March onwards. He is very tactically astute, can and has shown he can work on a limited budget/wages and he has inspired and motivated players from league one to over achieve and finish 12th in the Premiership. Best man for the job by far.

3) Best and worst moments of last season?

Sorry, the only good thing to come out of last season was the sacking of Alex McLeish, the worst moment was the hiring of Alex McLeish

4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?

Randy is the man that makes all the big decisions, so the last few managers all lie with him, I can`t pretend to understand why he chose either, but I can forgive him for McLeish because he has now gone out and got Lambert, who seemed to be the fans no. 1 choice. Now he just has to back him. As for Faulkner, he gets a lot of un fair criticism and I think he has done wonders in securing our best sponsorship and kit deals in our history.

5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?

I would definitely take advantage of the free market and also players from relegated teams. So I would look at players like Fletcher & Jarvis from wolves, Olsen, Hoillet and Nzonzi from Blackburn and Holden and Eagles from Bolton.

No doubt Lambert will want a player he has worked with in the past, so maybe Pilkington from Norwich too.

6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?

All deserve a clean state, except Collins. I would give him a free transfer just to get rid of him, he is a bad influence and caused too much trouble for us now.

7) Favourite current player?

Petrov.

8) Favourite all time player/s?

Merson. Taylor. McGrath. Yorke.

9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with 25m or so spent?

Premier 10th
FA Cup: 1/4
Carling: Winners

10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?

Do you think you could of done a better job than Alex McLeish?

Yes.

11) Just to change the theme slightly, a snap shot of you outside of football, answer or ignore at your leisure:
