Vital Villa Summer Interview: JayVFC

JayVFC steps up for the Vital Villa members interviews.

Q: When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Always been the way. Can't tell you why or when but from an extended family full of Birmingham City fans, I can't tell you it's been easy. It gets easier of course. Six wins on the trot tends to do that :)

Q: The season just gone, good bad or ugly? What did you think of it?

It had it's moments. Don't know how to put it more tactfully than that. It was a season that had so much promise but ultimately saw us fail to capitalize. They say you have to improve just to stand still in this league and that is perhaps the positive I will take from it.

Q: Best and worst moment of last season?

Best - There was a few to be honest. Beating the Blues is always sweet but I have to point to the Cup final and the victory at Old Trafford.
Worst - Chelsea away, say no more.

Q: James Milner... is he off do you think? If so, what price (realistically) should Villa hold out for? If off to Man City, which - if any - of their players would you want in exchange?

Yeah, I think it's safe to say he's off. A shame, but we are no position to turn down an offer in the region of 30m for ANY player. As long as the money is wisely reinvested, which I'm sure it would be, then I won't be too disheartened... Which brings me to the second part of the question... I would love to get Stephen Ireland here with him bringing 20-25m cash in a couple of suitcases with him.

Q: What signings (type of player or specific name/s if you wish) would you like to see Villa buy this summer?

I'm not the manager and couldn't tell you who are the ones out there to chase but I like the Eduardo link. Eduardo & Forlan are the type of players that we need to be taking risks on to progress. Also Ballack, he can be our midfield general for a couple of years. We need to be going down the pre-Abromavich Chelsea route now we have the core of the team in place methinks.

Q: Where do you stand on Martin O'Neill (I don't mean literally, that would be assault) ?

For all the frustration at his short comings, he's our manager at the end of the day, therefore he gets my support. Short of striking outside Bodymoor Heath/Villa Park there's not much I can do about it even if I felt so inclined. The negative press that we seem to have been covered in lately has to start somewhere and it stems from the disillusion amongst the fans. And I for one won't add to that so I'll be behind him until the day he walks away. Maybe then I'll tell you what I really think...

Q: Your opinion of Randy and the board?

There are questions. He's no saint by any means BUT no one is perfect and I wouldn't swap him for any owner in the league. Not even ADUG. The commitment he's shown to the club is beyond reproach for me. The Holte pub, the North Stand, the investment in the playing staff, the McGregor statue, the 82 celebrations. Simply put, he's an owner for the fans.

Q: Favourite current player and favourite all time player/s

McGrath, Mellberg, Laursen - As you can tell I like centre backs who play with raw heart.
Current - Milner - Be sad to see him go but it's unavoidable.

Q: Do you expect progress next season, difficult to answer before the transfer window closes I know?

I honestly have no idea. I expect a decent crack at it if I can duck the question so easily? We'll see.

Q: Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Bang - Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. Oh my god, she would get it, and you know she'd enjoy it too. It's in her eyes.
Thump - Justin Biebler. Annoying little pr*ck.
