Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: Skeggy

Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: Skeggy

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

When I was 5 we played Wembley, most will know the game. I was the youngest there and couldn't decide on a team so one of the older lads told me to be Aston Villa as they weren't 'to bad.' That was it and some 36 years later I'm still faithful!

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

A final at Wembley is always a great thing and we have progressed in the senior trophy as well so that needs to be applauded. However we still seem to lose games we should be winning. It's the frustration we've all had to endure for years. I do still believe we are capable of getting into the top 4, though it depends if we take our chances. We have a good starting XI that is capable on it's day of beating anyone, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool proves it.

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Beating Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time in 26 or so years.

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

The defeat at the hands of a poor Liverpool on the 29th December was particularly hard to take!

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

No I don't expect any new arrivals. If I could bring one player in I'd sign Beckford from Leeds. He can score for fun and would be relatively cheap. Sometimes gambles pay off!

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

I think we need a new 'keeper as Friedel can't go on forever and Guzan just doesn't seem Premiership standard to me! We obviously need a 20 goal a season player. I'd expect MON to do the coverage for the BBC in South Africa and come home with his wish list!

7) Who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City at Wembley?

I'd like Manchester City so after we beat them we can all ask Gareth Barry what the score is!

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: 5th
FA Cup: Winners (why not)
Carling Cup: Winners

9) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

A frustrating misunderstood genius!

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

Randy Lerner has give the funds to strengthen and that is to be applauded. However the fact we have heard this window that MON has to sell before he can buy is a worry. Has the global credit crunch effected Randy Lerner like the rest of us?

11) Favourite current player?

Richard Dunne a big tough central defender who always stands up to be counted

12) Favourite former player/s?

Andy Gray was my boyhood hero. I was always him when we kicked the ball around the park. Paul McGrath just made it look easy.

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

I would love to bang Alesha Dickson and Mel B! I don't particularly want to punch any celebrity I'd much prefer to see them go bankrupt!

With thanks to Skeggy
