The one and only Ratman takes the Vital Villa mid-season interview:

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

My old man has always been a villa fan so as long i can remember i have 'said' i liked Villa but until i started collecting the Pro Star footie cards (the season before the Premier league started) the extent of my knowledge of Aston Villa was that they played in claret and blue shirts. Whilst collecting the football cards then after the cards was the merlin premier league stickers I got to know all of the players. I went to my first game with my friend and his dad to watch the Villa against Oldham at Villa Park I think we lost 1-0 and I dont really remember much of it. The first game I really got hooked was 93/94 league cup semi final 2nd leg against Tranmere.

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

Before we captured the signings of Dunne and Collins I would have never thought we would even be where we are now. Also I never expected Downing to make the impact he has. He gives us so many more options and I am loving the Downing Milner and Young combo! Our team is now far stronger with good strength in depth. Last season that was far from the case! Last season it was a case of if one key player got injured we`d be screwed, which unfortunately is exactly what happened when God mk2 got injured and consequently retired. I truely belive that with the quality players we have now and the strength in depth we can push on and who knows maybe even sqeeze into that top 4!

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Gotta be beating United at Old Trafford. Last time we won there I was 3 months old! I felt like we had just won the Premier league!

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

One word - Torres. I don`t want to talk about it!

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

In a word no. The only player I would really want would be a striker but not just any striker we need a quality striker. I`m talking world class. So realistically... again no!

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

MON has spent extremely well in my opinion. He has continually improved our team. We are now at a point where we have a great team full of very hard working and talented young players who are really gelling together. Our keepers are good enough for a CL team, Our back 4 is good enough for a CL team. Our Midfield is superb with Milner fast becoming our Gerrard or Fabregas. The one thing that seperates us from the top 4 is that world class striker i was talking about. We need a Torres! So in that respect unfortunately I dont think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress because i can see now way of us spending 20 - 30 milion on one player.

7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?

I really dont care! Just bring em on and i`ll see you at Wembley!!!

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: 6th
FA Cup: Semi final
Carling Cup: Win (I have a good feeling about this)

9) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

Like I said, he has continually improved the team. He has them all working hard and I am a huge fan of MON. Now its time for that next step. Can he get us into that top 4? Can he get us a 'Torres'? Watch this space but I am 100% behind him all of the way!!!

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

Superb! Could not ask for more. Other teams in the prem would kill for owners like ours. Forget bilionaire sheiks i'd take our Randy any day!

11) Favourite current player?

Jimmy Milner! I love him, especially in his new central role. He is real quality and his work rate is nothing short of phenomenal! And its nice to get goals from midfield. The best thing about him though is i feel the best is yet to come!

12) Favourite former player/s?

For me its the obvious one.. Paul McGrath my lord! I remember collecting my merlin premier league stickers. I swapped my mate 10 stickers for his 1 paul mgrath sticker!

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Bang megan fox and thump chris evans, not at the same time mind! It would put me off trying to knock 7 bells out of the ginger tosser!
