Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: Bakerson

Bakerson takes the Vital Villan mid season interview:

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

From birth probably my Dad's from Erdington & Mom's from Kingstanding so its in the blood.

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

I was quite optimistic about pushing on for 4th spot, but we always seem to drop points against teams we should beat, especially at home. It happened against Middlesbrough last season and this season against West Ham. I suppose a cup win will soften the blow if we don't get there this time.

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Got to be the win against Man Utd. Waited so long for that day!

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

Liverpool at Villa Park. So disappointing.

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

To be honest the kind of player we need wouldn't be available in January. We desperately need a 20 goal a season forward. I'd take a chance on Kenwyn Jones, Robbie Kean, even Beckford; worth a gamble at the right price (Harewood + Cash maybe?) or Van Nistelrooy until the end of the season.

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

I think the squad isn't too far away. Again we just need to score more goals. All the 'big for' plus Man City now have a player that's worth £20M+ I'm not sure we have that kind of player. I think a play maker in midfield and a decent forward would make the difference.

7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?

There are reasons for both. Man Utd just because its Man Utd and City just to see the look on Barry's face when we lift the cup!

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: 5th (unless we get another forward)
FA Cup: Semi Final
Carling Cup: Win!

9) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

On the whole very happy. This season you can see the squad taking shape and starting to push on. My only problem with MON is in the transfer market and I think he has his favorites. Heskey, Petrov & Young; all have had bad games (especially Heskey) and they start ever game as long as there fit.

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

Compared to the Ellis days I you have to be happy. The cash has always seemed to be available for MON, although we never know quite how much he has to spend. I like the fact that he keeps out of the media and lets MON deal with the football issues, and the fact the clubs in good financial health.

11) Favourite current player?

Difficult to pick one. Milner for entertainment, Dunn for Mr. Reliable and I think Collins was a bargain.

12) Favourite former player/s?

Platt, Saunders, Yorke, Dublin. Would have loved Carbone to stay longer and of course McGrath

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang and which would you most like to thump!?!

Bang - Kelly Brook
Bang - Sarah Harding
Bang - Sophie Howard

Thump - Gordon Brown
Thump - Nick Griffin
Thump - Ronaldo

With thanks to Bakerson
