Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: Bearvill

Vital Villan Mid Season Interview: Bearvill

Bearvill takes the Vital Villa mid-season interview:

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

Since about 1990, all my family are bluenoses but my best mate at the time was a Villa fan and he used to talk to me about Atkinson/Daley/Saunders etc.....so I just kind of fell into supporting Villa.....it just felt
right, like I was meant to be a Villa fan : )

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

I think we will have gained good experience from last year so will stay up around where we are all season, unfortunately I don't think we will finish in the top 4...BUT we wont be far away

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Ashley Young's penalty against Liverpool after they had just scored and looked like they would score again..all the glory hunters in the pub were going wild when they scored...so to shove it down their throats a mere 3 minutes later was bliss....even better is my glory hunting mate went to his first game at Anfield and was sat behind that goal ha-ha !!! the picture in The Sun even showed him with hands on head as Young wheels away to celebrate.....classic !!

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

Torre's last minute goal, purely because they didn't deserve a thing and it could throw our confidence !! and Wigan at home, quite simply the most pathetic display I have ever witnessed on the opening day of the season !!

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

No, there wont be a signing as the sufficient quality wont be available. I will say it again but we are a Torres and a Gerrard away from being title challengers. We are past squad fillers now what we need is real top class players......these of course are difficult to attain but if they became available then O'Neill would be in there....

I honestly cant answer who i would go for, i don't watch enough football outside of this country but there MUST be a player there who can add that bit of class to our midfield/forward line !!

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

Again I'm rubbish at this, I really like Tuncay to be honest and think we missed a trick in not getting him, I reckon that we will spend again in the summer but i have absolutely no idea who on but if they are the quality signings we need then I don't care !!

7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?

I would love to beat Man United in a final....again : ) Although just for the 'Barry what's the score' chants Man city could be good

I imagine that Man United would be the easier team to beat though, in this particular final, as it wont mean as much to them as it does to us !! so I will go for them

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: 5th
FA Cup: Quarters
Carling Cup: Winners

9) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

he is building a formidable squad and our first team can beat anyone on their day.....also the bulk of our squad could be with us for years and that is something that really impresses me......solid foundations !!

yes at times we play hoof ball (or direct as I like to call it) however this is over-exagerrated at times, I go to most games and often think at times we play nice passing football.....and to be fair we wouldn't be in the upper reaches of the prem if we didn't....what we do do well is battle !!! I imagine teams hate okaying us as we are a strong team with a massive work ethic.

Personally I want O'Neill to stay for as long as possible as long as he keeps performing which he quite clearly is

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

A Godsend !!! enough said, the best owner in the league bar none........he could do with being a little richer but he will do : )

11) Favourite current player?

Collins/Milner - Collins is just a monster when he plays, and he can pick a pass and Milner just for his work ethic the lad covers more ground then anyone else !!

12) Favourite former player/s?

I loved little Alan Wright, pretty much only because of a beautiful curling goal he scored against Middlesvilla on new years day back in the 90's

I have a tendency for defenders, so Olof and Laursen are 2 of my favourites as well as the might McGrath but that's standard for Villa fans !!

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

At the minute I'd like to slip Pixie Lott a length, she just does it for me!!!

I'd like to hit Rafa (is he a celeb?) just because I hate Liverpool !!

With thanks to bearvill
