Vital Villa newbie Alex900_6 has taken the mid-season interview:
1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I became a fan in the late seventies. My uncle used to take me down to all the reserve games (1 entrance) in the Holte end. Hooked from then on.

2) What do you think of this season, do we have the chance to push on or will we slip up like last season?

Love to think we will push on however I have a feeling it will be similar to last season only a little less catastophic. With Man City and Tottenham looking strong and you still can’t right off Liverpool, 4th I feel is a little beyond us. :o(

3) Best moment/s of this season so far?

Beating Man Utd and Liverpool in their ‘Fortresses’. Fantastic

4) Worst moment/moments of this season so far?

Liverpool last minute….say no more!

5) Do you expect any arrivals this January (bearing in mind MON has indicated not) and IF you could bring in a player or two, who (realistically) would you go for?

I would hope for a striker…decent one at that. Still can’t believe MoN never went for Bent in the Summer (perfect MoN target to me). Perhaps Van Nistelrooy or Gudjohnsen. Would it be worth a punt at Saha? Injury prone maybe but bangs in the goals when fit.

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

Tough one……still think we need more creativity in Midfield and an out and out goal scorer.

7) If we made the Carling Cup final, who would you most like to face Manchester United or Manchester City?

Man Utd…….could not bear to see G.Barry lift the trophy if they won

8) What do you expect us to do/finish this season?

Premier League: Sadly 7th
FA Cup: Qtr Final
Carling Cup: Winners

9) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is mid way through his 4th season in charge?

It’s been a massive rollercoaster for me. One minute love the ground he walks on…..next minute disillusioned with his decisions. I am what you would describe as the typical fickle fan. I still think we need to push on more and his stubborn ways block us from the ‘name’ transfer which I’m sure most fans would love. Overall happy with developments but the remainder of this season and next will be massive for him.

10) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

One word………. ‘Brilliant’. What he has done for the club is a breath of fresh air. Off the field, the strides forward we have made are great. The ‘sleeping giant’ has awoke. We look classy all round and I have been fortunate enough to do a few corporate visits to the ground match and not match related. We are a class outfit now. Just need to transfer this to the pitch! A little concerned with investment in other clubs however (on the pitch) that we will be left treading water in a wealthy sense. If you know what I mean??

11) Favourite current player?

Milner by a mile. His attitude to every game is one every professional should look at (A. Young). Works tirelessly in training to get where he has and now reaping the rewards with his performances on the pitch. Skillful, pacey but most important his never say die attitude game in, game out. Great example to all the kid’s wanting to be footballers….my kid’s love him too.

12) Favourite former player/s?

Dean Saunders, Steve Staunton, Paul McGrath, Andy Townsend, Olly Mellberg, Martin Laursen could go on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang and which would you most like to thump!?!

Louise Redknapp, quality bird………….then I’d punch Jamie Redknapp after being caught!
