Vital Villan Interview: Upthevilla_83

Vital Villan Interview: Upthevilla_83
Upthevilla_83 takes the Vital Villan interview:

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I was about 7 years old. My uncle phil took me and my older brother to watch villa vs Blackburn rovers in the FA Cup replay, we sat in the old trinity just behind the dug out. Villa won 3-1 with David Platt and Paul Birch (RIP) scoring and I think spink saved a penalty!

2) Best moment/moments as a Villa fan?

Winning the league cup(s), I was chuffed when Dalian Atkinson won goal of the season for his strike against wimbledon cos that was class. Don’t know why but I always enjoy seeing a villa player get capped by England. Of course, hammering the Blues by 5 and Olof (legend) saluting us in the holte in the game!

3) Worst moment/moments as a Villa fan?

Losing to the blues lol. Selling Marcus allback cos he was a class act and never really got a chance once o’Leary took over. Giving up on the UEFA Cup this year. Seeing Nilis / Laursen retire.

4) Best and worst away ground visited?

Best – Stadium of Light
Worst – The Valley

5) What did you think of last season? Good, bad or indifferent and do you think we progressed?

A little gutted to be honest, I always knew Arsenal were gonna come back strong but I thought 5th was always in the bag. I admit I got carried away and thought the possibility of the champions league was going to be reach but then again, 6th is 6th, better than being relegated like Newcastle?

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

From what I have heard today, Bentley looks to be on his way 7m aint bad, he was never worth 15m tho. I liked the look of the Russians at Hamburg and with everything going on at Real Madrid, why not try a cheaky bid for Saviola or Snejder?
I don’t think we will spend big, my issue is that they reckon we needed at least 5 quality players to bring in, that was before Laursen and Barry retiring / leaving etc… were gonna struggle to do that unless we do spend big and quality aint cheap, for 7 players you gotta look at 70-100m. I don’t think we will do that.

7) What do you expect next season?

Premier League: 8th
FA Cup: 4th Round
Europa League: Quarter finals
Carling Cup: Winners

8) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is approaching his 4th season in charge?

O’Neill needs to do something this year, otherwise the fans patience will be running out. Especially after I think 2 wins in 19 games, now that’s relegation form! I think he probably thinks his best bet is the Carling Cup possibly of Europe again if the other teams spend / play as well as they can. He’s done well so far and majority of fans are happy but I think the seed is growing at the back of some of the fans minds and I don’t know how long it will last.

9) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

Keeps improving the club which is great, excellent infrastructure now in place. Will be interesting to see how long his patience will be tested if the team doesn’t start producing / winning things on the pitch with the management staff

10) Favourite current player?

John Carew

11) Favourite former player/s?

I would have to name a team if that’s ok.
Bosnich,
Olof, Laursen, God
Nelson Wright
Taylor, Cowans, Hitzlsperger
Allback Angel

12) What did you make of the Gareth Barry exit?

I have to go with the majority of Villa fans – Disappointed. But if someone offered me a 5k pay rise in my job I think I would look seriously at it, I think you would be stupid not too.

10 years / 12m aint bad for a player who we signed for 1m and we developed into a England International now that is an excellent start point to sign young hungry talent and show what they can do if they put their minds to it.

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang?!

Megan Fox
