Vital Villan Interview: Lee Barnett

Vital Villan Interview: Lee Barnett
Lee Barnett takes the Vital Villan interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I was a Villa fan by birth, its a family thing

2) Best moment/moments as a Villa fan?

I will always remember standing in the old Holte End in the Coca Cola Cup, the game against Tranmere Rovers, Yeah, you know the one I'm talking about.

3) Worst moment/moments as a Villa fan?

Losing at wembley to Chelsea. Absolutly gutted.

4) Best and worst away ground visited?

Best - Old Trafford, what a stadium!
Worst - Loftus Road, (went their when Fulham moved in foir a season) the reason why this is my worst, well its a dive!

5) What did you think of last season? Good, bad or indifferent and do you think we progressed?

I think it was a good season. A lot of Villa fans are dissapointed. Unlike Everton who had a 'steady' season we had an amazing start to the season, couldn't lose!! and then we had our bad
form for 3 months. Where as other teams bad form was spread out.

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

I don't know who we should sign this summer in all honestly, but we HAVE to replace 2 of our best players without a doubt. Barry and Laursen, the also bring in around 6 players on top of that. I think this transfer window will be an interesting one, it has to be! and yes I believe we will spend the money this window. We simply have to.

7) What do you expect next season?

Premier League: Top 6
FA Cup: I cant predict a round that we will get to etc but i think MON will really give this cup a go this season.
Europa League: Semi's, maybe final. MON wont be making the same mistake he did last season.
Carling Cup: Early exit, we haven't got the squad yet to be playing in 4 competitions.

8) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is approaching his 4th season in charge?

I haven't really got an opinion really, I like the guy but he has to start giving the fans what they want, silverware.

9) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

People know my views at the moment. We wont go into this. {Lee did an article recently questionning whether the money is available at Villa. Ed}

10) Favourite current player?

Ashley Young. Great English young talent with a massive future in front of him, whether that's at Aston Villa or not.

11) Favourite former player/s?

Gareth Barry , Saunders, Atkinson, GOD, Bosnich, Taylor.

12) What did you make of the Gareth Barry exit?

Again, people who know me know what I think. Money grabber I think sums it up.

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang?!

Anything that is warm ;)

With thanks to Lee Barnett
