Vital Villan Interview: MrZeus

Vital Villan Interview: MrZeus
MrZeus, a regular reader but not so regular poster, steps up to the plate and takes the Vital Villan interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

when I was in primary school and thought David Platt was the best player in the world!

2) Best moment/moments as a Villa fan?

Best- knocking holders Inter Milan out of the UEFA cup (back when it was still a valued competition)! Without doubt the most exciting match I’ve ever watched.

Savo’s goal in the Carling Cup was a pretty special moment as well!

3) Worst moment/moments as a Villa fan?

Every time over the last 10 seasons we’ve been knocked out of a cup by a lower-league team, without taking the game seriously. And of course I’ll add the Moscow game to that. I’ll also add the transfer window in January- I think we were maybe 2 quality signings away from grabbing 4th.

I’d also add the gradual domination of the champions league and the money that’s given to the teams that qualify- taking the hope away from fans of all but 4 clubs

4) Best and worst away ground visited?

Best – haven’t been there yet, but will do in May 2010 ;)
Worst – Whaddon Road, Cheltenham!

5) What did you think of last season? Good, bad or indifferent and do you think we progressed?

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?
Good season, and yes we progressed.

I’m happy with O’Neil’s policy over the last few seasons of building a base around young, solid British players, but now I think it’s time to add some world-class from abroad (especially with Barry and Laursen gone). I’d shop around Spain for a creative midfielder (so we don’t have to rely just on counter-attacks)- maybe raid the sale at Valencia?! I’d love some exciting signings, some players who we could never have predicted coming to VP.

7) What do you expect next season?

Obviously we all know who will finish in the top 4, so I’m hoping for an exciting cup run, don’t care which cup it is!

8) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is approaching his 4th season in charge?

Although I think he could be braver in the transfer market (and I’m not counting spending 4m on Harewood!), and I can’t understand how he can rate Heskey over Carew, I’m still behind him!

9) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

top bloke

10) Favourite current player?

Petrov

11) Favourite former player/s?

Ian Taylor

12) What did you make of the Gareth Barry exit?

If we went to Man City because of champs league football in 2010/11 season, why didn’t he stick with us for 1 more year, and then leave on a free when he could’ve had his pick of any team in the champs league in Europe?! Oh yeah, money….:(

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang?!
Any of ‘em! {will see what I can do and intro you to Alan Carr then ... ED}

With thanks to MrZeus
