Vital Villan Interview: Villa till I Die

Vital Villan Interview: Villa till I Die
Mac McCarthy aka Villa till i Die takes the Vital Villan interview.

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I became a Villa fan when my Dad dragged me down Villa Park when i was 8 yrs old Tommy Docherty was the manager and we got smashed 6 nil at home by Watford ! I couldn't believe all the grown ups around me and what it meant to them? i was about 2 yards to the right of the Holte end goal at the front with the small railings, Dad always went for a drink and told me to stand there. Been a Villa fan since all the way through the 48,000 game in the 3rd Division against Bournemouth those were the days.

2) Best moment/moments as a Villa fan?

European Cup Final Rotterdam what a night, and also Highbury 1981 a great day even though we lost. Of course the League Cup Final replay at Old Trafford 1977 against Everton :-)

3) Worst moment/moments as a Villa fan?

there have been many, i suppose the ones that stand out are the 3-0 at Blues the Enkleman game. relegation although not many times thank god. The 2000 last Wembley Cup Final we didn't turn up and just defended all game. This seasons capitulation at the end of the season very upsetting to me.

4) Best and worst away ground visited?

Best: the New Wembley

Worst: Fratton Park

5) What did you think of last season? Good, bad or indifferent and do you think we progressed?

Good season and yes we progressed.

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

I think we should get Beckham as a holding midfielder and let Petrov loose to attack.

Although we haven't bought anyone yet yes i think we will be surprised at how much we do spend and it will be enough.

7) What do you expect next season?

F.A.Cup

8) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is approaching his 4th season in charge?

The perfect manager for us although us fan get impatient what we need to realise he is building for the future as well as the present, making sure we are not going to be a flash in the pan. you have to get foundations right or the house will only stand for so long before it falls down around your feet.

9) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

More than happy with the Board and Randy Lerner

10) Favourite current player?

I would have said Laursen but as he has retired i think that Ashley Young takes that place now with Curtis Davis a close second.

11) Favourite former player/s?

God ( Paul McGrath ) no contest, i was also fortunate to see Andy Gray when he was banging in goals for fun for the Villa.

12) What did you make of the Gareth Barry exit?

Shocking, i think he ruined his reputation with all Football Supporters and not just ourselves. showed he was only after money and nothing else. Champions League ? he has told everyone that he is a liar by going to Man City. I cant give the bloke any time anymore.

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang?!

Cameron Diaz didn't even have to think about that one :-)

With thanks to Mac McCarthy aka Villa till i Die
