Vital Villan Interviews: tommy_boy

Vital Villan Interviews: tommy_boy
tommy_boy takes the Vital Villan interview:

1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?

I am Greek and I've been a fan since the 06/07 season. The reason? I don't really know why. I guess the ambition of the new owner made me keep a close on the team and then every thing happened while watching the team's games.

2) Best moment/moments as a Villa fan?

Ashley's late goal at the 2-3 victory in Goodison Park this season. Tremendous play by Ash. You find yourself deeply disappointed at Lescott's equalizer, and the next moment you can't believe you got away with a win.

3) Worst moment/moments as a Villa fan?

I think the worst moment was the 2-2 result with Stoke this season again. I just knew after that game that we would lose our C L spot. I t was also the way the result. A highlight goal from big Carew seemed to seal the victory and nobody excpected Stoke to mak a comeback.

4) Best and worst away ground visited?

I can't say much about my away visits as I haven't seen any Villa game away from Villa Park

5) What did you think of last season? Good, bad or indifferent and do you think we progressed?

It sure was a good season. We will participate to the Europa League through or League position, which is great. And just the fact that we had a great chance to qualify for C L was great. I think that every realistic fan of football didn't expect that, so that's improvement. The season also had many downs such as the bad run at the last three months and the early elimination from domestic cups. But we all have collected great memories this year.

6) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer? And do you think Villa will spend enough this summer to progress?

The major losses( Laursen and Barry) will be very difficult, maybe impossible to replace. But Hangeland/Lescott or even Wheater for Laursen and Defour/Huddlestone is as start. We also need 2-3 players so the squad has the number of quality players that are essential to have another chance to break in the top 4. We defanitely need a player so Luke doesnt play out of position, and a winger so Milner and Ash have some backup. Naughton, Bentley are some of my favourites. A quality striker like Gignac, Sturridge or Owen would also strengthen our frontline. Despite believing that we wont have enough money to spend this summer, as owner Lerner has more long term plans for the club, I still have trust to MON and his desicions.

7) What do you expect next season?

Premier League: somewhere between 6th and 8th
FA Cup: maybe reach the final
Europa League: q. finals
Carling Cup: early elimination by a league one side

8) Your opinion on Martin O'Neill now he is approaching his 4th season in charge?

MON has made a lot of progress with Villa, and I still have faith on him. The only thing that makes me concern is the lack of tactics. Anyway, I think MON has, and will have future at the club. I also hope that he doesnt understimate Europa League and the domestic cups.

9) Your opinion on Randy Lerner and his board?

I believe that we are very fortunate to have an owner like this. He respects the club's history, he is very pacient, doesnt make rushy decisons and has shown that he loves the club.

10) Favourite current player?

Now that Laursen and Barry left, my favourite one is I think Petrov. His consistency, passion and running has shown that he is a player that you can rely on.

11) Favourite former player/s?

Tony Morley. What can I say for him? One of the best players ever. O major factor in the 80/81 and 81/82 success. Fast as nothing else, a nightmare for every defender and a player you love to watch.

12) Gareth Barry, will he stay or go and do you care?

First of all, I am very disappointed with him. He says he wants CL football and he turns us down for City? I mean, they didnt even qualify for Europa L. His departure maybe bigger than it seems. Villa must convince again people that the club is a serious contender, and not another selling club. This may also have consecuences to possible transfer targets, as they might assume that our team is not that ambitious. We would even have to convince our own players not to leave. The summer transfers can have a major impact in order to show our ambtion, but if money isnt enough, things might get more difficult.

13) Right, lets lower the tone... which celebrity would you most like to bang?!

I believe, Beyonce!!
