We should be above singing about SHA, who the hell gives a s*** about them anyway? Singing about them is stooping to their level and we are way, way better than that.

For those that are unsure of the full version it goes like this. "As I walked up to the Holte End one bright and sunny day away away away. I spied a poor b-lose fan he was running far away away away away. I said to the b-lose fan it's time for you to die to die to die to die. He said yes I know sir ....... Holteenders in the sky. Yippeeh aye aaaayyyy yippeeh aye ooohhhh Holteenders in the sky. Yippeeh aye aaaaahhhh yippee aye oooohhhhh Holteenders in the sky". So even this song is about the dildo salesmen from Somali Heath. Time for a change I think!!??

Yeah, time to sing about ourselves, not them in my opinion. Apart from when we are playing them, I don't see why we should be at all bothered - or the other way round.

I agree about not bothering to sing about the B-lose. I did however vote for "Holte Enders in the Sky". I have to admit to not knowing the full version. I only ever knew the chorus "Yipee aye aay..etc." Oh well. More songs required I think. As was mentioned in the thread about swtiching of the tannoy music, we need a song for each and every member of the first team rathere than "There's only one....." I'll start the ball rolling. 1. Oh Tommy Tommy, Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy Sorensen!

We were never short of a fine variety of songs and chants back in the old days, the days when we used to wave claret and blue walking sticks in the air (until they were banned) as opposed to using them as a means of support. Over the years the catalogue of witty ditties just seemed to disappear. Sad really, and even more sad that we have to sing anti Small Heath verses at every home game, even when once again they are back in the minor leagues.

What about Spinky, and Birchy and Alan McInally. That's a good song. Could do with some updating tho...

Holte Enders in the Sky is however unique and catchy and many rival fans are noticing this to be our main chant (as well as 'Villa Villa Villa'). We should sing more songs about our past glory too, about '82 Rotterdam, Saunders, Barton, and the great players of that era. Would like to hear 'Paul McGrath my lord' sung more. Personally I quite like the scouse-red chant of 'Istanbul 5 times', funnily enough the Mancs have adopted this song... maybe we could? (Any suggestions?) I generally think too many chants focus on stiring up rival fans/teams and not getting behind our own boys. So altogether now: "We all dream of eleven Gareth Barry's, eleven Gareth Barry's, eleven Gareth Barry's; Number 1 is Gareth Barry; Number 2 is Gareth Barry....."

Oh, say! can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming; Whose coulors are claret and blue, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? would make Lerner happy..:P

My eyes have seen the glory of the Villa win the cup. That famous night in Rotterdam when Morty held it up. Claret and blue ribbons on the European Cup. And the Villa go marching on. Glory glory Aston Villa, glory glory Aston Villa glory glory Aston Villa and the Villa go marching on on on on on on on on on on. We used to sing this about winning the FA cup 7 times but hey ho. There are very few tunes that are only used by individual clubs and all clubs sing songs that are reworkings of old tunes, so lets not get hung up on the fact that certain clubs sing songs to any particular tune.

I too am not for singing about the bluenoses....i much prefer keeping them out of any of our chants. they are of zero significance as far as i'm concerned. i'd rathe rgive importance to the club, the fans, the former greats and the boys on the field. Holtenders in the Sky is also only sung by the lot who are in the Holte. We need something else that gives VP that collective we did when we had those barmy european nights against Inter Milan and that cup match against Tranmere....blasts from the past i know....but those were the days when all of Villa Park sang as one

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, Its up the Holte we go, With a bottle and a brick, and a walking stick, Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho. The old ones are the best. That was a late 60's epic.
