Turn The Music Off And Sing?

Turn The Music Off And Sing?
The loss of atmosphere at many premiership grounds (Villa included) was inevitable with fans sat in rows rather than thronged on the terraces - but the incessant sound of pre-match music has drowned out invention and the incentive to sing.

Wouldn't it be a good idea if Villa publicised they were going to be the first club of the 92 to turn the clocks back and have a no tannoy music policy for the last 20-30 minutes before kick off to allow the fans to create their own special Villa Park atmosphere with some originality encouraged rather than the limited current repertoire . Yes please Villa- a great idea/ Not sure/ Stupid idea

Option 1 is : Yes Please Villa, a great idea

Option 2 is : Definitely worth a trial

Option 3 is : Not sure

Option 4 is : Might not catch on in 2007

Option 5 is : I want loud pre-match music

Option 6 is : Stupid idea

have to admit, I like the music when done right but it would be interesting to see if the atmosphere improved with our own fans making the noise. Can't see it starting until we are rocking and rolling on the pitch though to be honest, we are bad enough during games these days.

I was thiknig about how to get more singing going during the West Ham game. Can we not find a Villa fan who can play a trumpet. Then perhaps get a drummer too. I know the boys at the back do a sterling job hammering the corrugated metalwork (That looks like f'kin hard work btw) But with someone starting off a melody on say a trumpet it would give everyone a lead so everyone is singing the same song at the same time. You tend to get lots of small groups singing different songs which ends up being an indecipherable noise (check me out with my thesaurus!).

What happened to the days of going through the team before kick off and singing the players songs.Merse, Ugo, Alan Wright, Georgie Boateng,Stevie Stone, Lee.It was a great way to gee the boys up and the crowd as there was variety and it gets the momentum going.I know, new team different lads...but we must be able to think of something for each of them!

Pre-match entertainment prior to kick off is all part and parcel of the match day package. As a club we should make our pre-match show more interesting, informative and entertaining, but as for 'switching off' to allow the crowd to generate an atmosphere, no, dont think so.

villain57 is right. Most people are down behind the stands until the mad stampede at 10 mins before KO. Ideas like this are all very well and good, but times have changed and I just can't see it working. What we should be concentrating more on is making a noise and getting behind the lads once the game kicks off. As OLV says, we used to have a song for all the players, now all we seem to have is 'Gabby Agbonlahoooor' and on the rare occasions that he scores 'There's only Juan pablo Angel'. The plain truth is, we as supporters just don't generate enough noise anymore.
